My bike was collected this morning for service. This is the first time my bike has left my sight so I thought I would see if it had made its way to JHP. Biketrac still seems to think my bike is in my garage. If you have one fitted i would seriously suggest you check its working. When my bike comes back I'm ripping it out and cancelling my subscription. I called Road Angel over one hour ago to ask whats going on and nobody has bothered to call me back. Shoddy experience so far. - Update: make sure you enter your contact phone number without spaces as this caused their system to misinterpret the phone number and they was unable to contact me.
I think the first question you have to ask yourself is was it installed correctly, set up correctly etc. I have it over a year, and I am extremely impressed, I get warning texts of low battery, and I have had it triggered and a call and text when just moving it 20 feet, when bike was in my van moving I got a call. I think over overall had contact from them 6 times. If I get a text I call them back and they answer phone prompt, battery disconnect they call me.
Dealer installed. I never got a phone call, though I have had in the past when I've wheeled the bike out of the garage.
I had a similar issue last week when my bike was picked up from Ducati Manchester to have venture shield fitted. Online location showed up as DM but bike was actually several miles away. I called Road Angel and they immediately gave me the correct location using their software. Logging in to find an inaccurate location is far from ideal , but its still comforting to know that if the worst happened , at least Road Angel know where it is. Hope it works out for you mate.
I called Biketrac SOC and asked why i'd not been alerted to the movement. They said they had been unable to reach my mobile phone as the number was wrong. I had a number of spaces within the number which basically had caused their system to truncate the last digit entered; hence no SMS text message. The bloke was very helpful and did a check on their internal system and was able to locate the bike for me at JHP using GSM triangulation. Not sure why as a consumer I'm not getting the same information as they are. Surely it would be better to have provided both GPS and GSM information on the map rather than me having to ask why I was unable to see the location of my bike.
I had a unit that went KIA, took it back to the dealers who replaced it with a new one FOC. All good now. Seems a bit harsh to be honest. FAB.
All my bikes are fitted with Road Angel bike trac, sorry mate but I swear by them for the reasons mentioned above, I have moved it from back of house to front forgetting to turn ignition on and had texts and calls from them. Twats at dealers keep forgetting its fitted though I tell them every time and I get alerts where its moved round workshop. I have never been put on hold by them or had to leave voice mail messages I have always got to speak to someone. My first one was installed in March 2011 so I have had them 4yrs and never no probs.
MarkM, did you have the SOC tick box checked or was it empty. This has an affect on what triggers an alert. Always get alerts when mine is activated and as I move it around in the van a lot I always get contacted, NEVER have I had to leave a message for Biketrac to call me back day OR night. Do you have more than one contact on your account? If you do then both or all contacts will be notified as long as they have the appropriated boxes ticked as well. If biketrac have updated your details then all will be fine. Maybe you should update the title as it may be a bit harsh condemming a product even when the supplier has rectified the issue for you. Just my opinion. D
SOC was ticked. The problem was phone number entered had spaces in it e.g. 9999 999 999 which their system just truncated to 10-digit '9999 999 9'. I got a call from their ops support who said they're aware of this problem happening and removing the spaces from the number would fix the problem. To be honest it wouldn't have been terribly hard for whoever wrote the website to have stripped whitespaces from the number when it's input.
