1200 Bit Of A Long Shot...

  1. I don't suppose any of you either;
    1) Have a spare "O" ring for the male fuel connector that pushed into the tank?
    2) Know what the size is so I can buy one?
    3) Know where I can buy one?

    I've damaged 1 getting the connector back on, Ducati will only sell a full fuel coupling (what a surprise) and I'm not paying over £40 for one half!
    Yours hopefully etc...

  2. Take the damaged one to a local bearing factor perhaps and get it matched?

  3. I got 10 of them from Ducati Glasgow for about a pound or two. They are a common size o-ring made from viton to stand up to petrol. I can check the size next time I'm out at the garage.

  4. The fuel connector on the MTS1200 (I'm assuming that's what it's for) is listed only as part of the fuel line and that's silly money. The problem is swapping them out as the fuel lines are heat shrunk to the connector, not clipped, hence only being listed as an assembly. The connector is the same as the 1198 as far as I know which are available separately for about a tenner.
    The O-rings aren't listed separately like the old 996 ones were unfortunately :(

  5. I bought the 225 piece set. For that money you can't go wrong (unless the size isn't in there LOL!)
    We used to replace for metal ones with the Daytona but hopefully this will be the last time I have to take the tank off and that's the end of the issue.

  6. The o-rings are size 011, 7.65mm ID x 1.78mm cross-section. You can buy them here at 14p each but you might need to buy an awful lot to make up an order. :D

  7. Thanks. I reckon an 7x2 will probably work just fine in that case.

  8. I think you might find that a 2mm cross section is slightly too thick and that it jams and tears when you try to fit the connector.
    The ones you've given the link for are nitrile and not resistant to petrol. You need the Viton ones here;
    BS001 to BS050 : O-ring BS011 7.65mm ID x 1.78mm CS FKM 75

  9. Sorry, but I disagree. From the guide you posted -

    "Not Recommended
    Fuels with a high aromatic content; aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene)..."

    I think petrol fits in that category.

  10. Then we shall agree to disagree.

  11. I guess so ;)
