I have spent the past 20 summers with a gang of reprobates hurtling round the roads of europe on an assortment of rapid sports super bikes. Its been an awesome time but needless to say all of us are getting a little older, slower, and lets face it more knackered. Final straw was last trip in Oct with 6 other guys. I was on my R1 SP which I love but the mountains and hairpins killed me this time. Several of the gang have gone more upright with a KTM 1190 adventure, an MV 800cc upright thingy no idea what its called, a naked BMW 1000 version of the 1000RR. Interesting that 10 years ago we would all have been on Jap sports bikes but I was the only one this time. So when I got back test rode the collection of adventure style bikes and felt the 1200s was the most uncompromising. So waited till Jan when bikes is cheaper and bought a 2011 1200s in red (The fastest colour I believe). Took it out for a proper ride yesterday. This bike has the rearward hugger removed and I have never been covered in so much road shite in all my life. Anyone got the reaward hugger for sale. Looking forward to some great times on this bike once I have attended the owners IT course to start it !!!
