Hi All, My multi's approaching two years old, it's done about 8500 miles in all weathers at all times of the year. The thing is bits have changed colour. The exhaust cover was once black and quite shiny, it's almost bronze now ( brown at least ) and the brackets at the bottom of the forks for hanging the brakes are now turning blue. I look after it, was it now and again etc. Anyone else got this? Im not worried about the fork bottoms, but the brown exhaust shield spoils the bike, need to remedy this, any ideas? Multi1200 ABS
Powdercoat the cover. Not having any issues with the fork bottoms, and I wash mine probably even less than you do!
Gord, Perhaps it's you bike trying to tell you that it is time for a new MIVV, Arrow, Leo Vinci or Termi etc?
I'll try the engine paint, let you k ow how it goes. Would love the termi set up, but can't afford that. Trying to build a street tracker from an old xt600 instead
Ride it more then rest of the bike will look similar to cover. I do about 7k a year on my monster and that is what has happened plus all paint fell off but that was probably 19 years ago.
I think I'm in a minority of it being the first bike I have owned that I actually like the exhaust. The CAT, well that is a different matter...
Me too. Just too quite :-(. Having said that I'm far too tight to lash out on a full termi just for the sound. My loss I know...
Heat resistant engine or exhaust paint should be fine but you'll get a better and tougher finish by having the part powder coated and it won't cost that much to have done (and you can get your belly pan parts and pillion peg hangers done at the same time;-) Alternatively, you can get a carbon replacement cover from carbonworld.de... 10% discount code for Carbonworld.de here ;-)
Mine went the vile brown colour ,So i am attending a course in Aberdeen and LJF Powder Coating is next door, I popped the cover in and they did it in satin black for £15 looks a lot better.
with regards to powder coating the cover would be fine with the heat, it is just near the manifold where it is too hot for powdercoating
