1200 DVT Black Clutch Fluid With Oberon Slave

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by knightrider, Aug 12, 2024.

  1. So about 2 months ago I bleed my clutch fluid and today started to get the bike ready for my euro trip in sept and pulled the clutch res sock off and the fluid was black. Ive bleed it again with new fluid but has me thinking is something wrong ??

I have googled and many ppl say this happens but then other state that fitting an Oberon slave stops it.

appreciate any input as for some reason Im a bit paranoid about this trip and just got a feeling something is going to go wrong : unamused:

  2. Nothing to do with the Oberon slave cylinder and the discoloured fluid is common for the clutch reservoir, even over a short timeframe. The discolouration has no detrimental effect on the performance of the fluid. The piston in the clutch master cylinder has 2 seals which are commonly believed to be the source of the discolouration. Not surprising given the number of times you compress and release the clutch lever. Andy

  3. Have an Oberon on mine and the fluid goes black within a month or two, still works fine.

  4. Had black clutch fluid with original slave cylinder, all clear with the Oberon that's been on for three years. '16 1200 Enduro.

  5. Cant see the enduro system and slave being any different so I wonder why yours has stayed clear for so long
