Having a lads week to the Black forest in August heading to Bitche in France for our first nights stay. We are not wanting to tie ourselves down by booking our hotels/B&Bs in advance! Is there a brand of hotels like Premier Inn/Ibis etc that can be recommended so we can just book during the days riding? Any help would be great or even routes that can be recommended...... Thanks
I've been looking at Air BnB lately, definitely worth checking and usually a fraction of the cost of hotels.
There's always Pension WIlliams http://www.pension-williams.com/ Seebach is a great little town, just beautiful with plenty of places to eat and drink. it's very close to the famous B500 which is a must ride. They cater for motorcyclists and advertise in MCN most weeks.
Just add the booking.com app to your phone and book places close by on the day when you know where you will stop.
Seen pension Williams advertised b4 on here and had pencilled it in! Downloaded a few apps. But will probably just try to do it o the day while we're there!!!
Downside to Pension Williams is they do not serve evening meals and its a bike ride away to find somewhere.
Been a few yrs since in Black Forest, but Todtmoos is an ok town to stay. Close by is another town called Wehr i think. Todtmoos has a hotel or two and garage parking. Cheap enough and low key. The tar banding on the roads can be off putting & very large logging vehicles, just dont get in over your head. If it rains itz torrential so bring good rain gear. However, if you're looking for the ultimate location or base camp, Garmisch is the place ! Best roads in the world all around it. Not kidding! You can reach italy etc and austria and be home for dinner. Plenty of great passes to head for like Timmelsjoch. Garmisch is a hreat town. Lots of bars eateries etc....we stayed in biker friendly hotel: http://wp.brunnthaler.de Garmish is where its at!! Enjoy wherever you go.
