The Darmah arrived last night, and it is in amazing condition. It has had a top-quality respray; and the FPS rims are perfect, not a mark or ding to be seen. All the rubber ware appears to be as-new, even the top airfilter box breather looks brand spanking new. I would guess that she has had a lot of money spent on her around ten years ago, as the zero-miles tyres have 2005 year markings. Small things give a hint, all the fasteners are coppa-slipped, no odd sizes or different lengths to be seen anywhere. The front brakes have pumped through OK, but the rear master cylinder requires new seals, on their way from Mdina. I will also need to order some new airfilters, a mouse made his home in the rear air filter box a long time ago, the peanuts were quite mouldy and to be honest, I have tasted better !! The only thing non-standard so far are the rear shocks, they look to be a quality item, but have no name or brand marks – any ideas ??
I have a pair of shocks exactly like that. I got them off Bernie Adey (Spares'N'Repairs of Watford) in 1981.
Rust on Fork Leg - there are some small blistered areas on one of the chrome legs; am I right in thinking that if the blistered chrome is not in the swept area of the seals or wipers then it should get through the MOT ?? I will probably replace it anyway - Mdina have new spares in stock. All else super and dandy, although Mr R was right about the " two handfull " throttle action, I will fit a Tommaselli twin cable job ( Mr R ? ) - looks the part and sorting the switchgear should be straight forward. I think SS cables will go straight on, cheers dp
Hi All, just checking through the bike, tonight the carbs, the needles look a bit worn so I opened up the front carb. It is fitted with a K4 needle, a 128 main and a 70 pilot jet !! The atomiser is as per the book, 265 AB The book states a K5 needle ( very similar to K4 ) , a 152 main and a 60 pilot ! Am I right in thinking that the jet sizes are in 100ths of a mm ? Can anyone see any rhyme or reason in the as-found set-up ? or maybe it's been put together with whatever he had in his box - any comments dudes PS, I am getting first class service from MDINA ITALIA LTD,
