The was sat for 8 maybe 10 weeks, took it for its mot and had no rear brake! push the pedal 2/3 times and there it is. I have been trying to bleed the darn thing but am having no joy? I have even used one of them vacuum bleeders. Any tips guys.....pretty please.
Before leaping into mods, I'd undo and remove the caliper from the hanger, put a disc sized spacer between the pads and bleed the system whilst you suspend the caliper as high above the bike as the brake pipe will allow. If you immerse the end of the pipe from the caliper nipple in brake fluid in your catch bottle, you shouldn't need to close the bleed nipple as you pump the foot brake pedal. I found using Motul 660 fluid increased the time before the brake becomes a sponge. Andy
Put a banjo bolt with bleed nipple on the abs pump as per that link, and bleed at that point. It is the highest point of the system and naturally will collect any air at that point. You also need to ensure the abs pump is activated to ensure you purge any air from it.
If you do the bleed nipple on the abs mod, check that it doesn’t foul the underside of your seat. I had to drill a hole in the plastic base to give clearance. Easy to do.
