Oh bugger. Just fitted a new tyre to rear and wheeled bike out my garage and noticed a pool of oil. Front right fork seal blown Supposed to be off on a 12 day trip in 8 days time. Waiting for Ducati Assistance to come and collect bike and take to dealer. Fingers crossed they have a fork seal in stock as delivery time could be upto 10 days. Does anyone know if they provide a replacement bike?
If a replacement bike was provided it wouldn't be for a trip into europe, I highly doubt they'd allow that.
Hopefully they should be able to fix it for you. You can still ride the bike if you need to take it somewhere else. I rode back from the Pyrenees with a blown fork seal. I started off really carefully after I first noticed it but after a while forgot about it and was riding in a more ‘spirited’ manner. Bike handled it well and got me home ok with just a bit of mess on the fork (brakes were fine).
Can a local indie get you done. Or warranty issues? Not a big job. Seals readily available aftermarket .
If you're careful i would ride it to the dealer, or a good indie, as long as you take your time you shouldn't get any oil on the brake discs, and its possible that an indie might have a seal on the shelf - or be able to get one pronto, most dealers i know wouldn't replace a blown fork seal under warranty, its classed as 'wear and tear'.
From past experience I have found that not cycling the front forks up and down after the front wheel being out (eg for new tyres) can lead to fork seal leaks. The forks are out of vertical alignment. As said above, before writing the seal off run a SealMate around the seal first (a must have for the tool box).
On a bike that's probably hardly one year old, I would seriously doubt that they wouldn't carry out this repair under warranty. IMO definitely NOT FW&T. More like unfit for purpose, unless of course the bike's been absolutely hammered, which of course it could have been and then perhaps your view might have legs.........
Bike only 5 months old and covered 4600 miles. I'm not going to mess with something that's under warranty. Also brake disks, pads and tyre are covered in oil so not going to attempt to ride it to dealers when there is a free recovery service on hand. If it was my motocross bike then I'd probably fix it myself or at least have a go at cleaning any crap from the seal but my motocross bike is only worth £3k and has no warranty. Only rear tyre has been changed do nothing messed about with on front end. If anything is out of alignment it came out of the factory that way.

I remember it well Chris, even the Ducati dealer we visited tried a Sealmate to try and stop the leak and that didn’t work but the old girl got you home!
If the dealer has said that seals are covered by warranty then good, just thinking things might be a bit of a push if you're going on a trip in a weeks time...anyway, good luck.
. 5 months old. That is proper bad luck. Surprised its not a bit of grit. Hope your dealer is one of the rare caring ones. Best of luck. Could always hire a bike I suppose.
I've had numerous warranty issues over the years and never been offered a loan bike in the interim.... Just to set your expectations
As said already, check you’ve not got a bit of grit in the seal. Run a feeler gauge under the seal, it only takes a very small piece of crap to get caught up.
Was given a like for like loaner out of the demo fleet when my 1260 was in to fix an oil leak done under warranty. Relationship with dealer is important plus I doubt one will be offered if you don't ask. I also get a loan bike when mines in for a service, take my pick from the demo fleet. Tried a Monster and a V4 Panigale thus far. I do have to pay £10 each time for these though the one for when mine was in for warranty work was FOC. Service coming up soon and will try the V4 Mutley, will time my service so their demo is available.
