I have a F850GS and whilst riding today the yellow warning triangle lit up and stayed on, checking the message said Emergency sos failure. Bike still runs fine obviously but I want the light gone, does anyone know if the emergency sos button can be bypassed or turned off / reset as I don’t want it it just happened to be on the bike when I got it. I read if you just disconnect it you still have the warning. I realise this is a Ducati forum but I can’t be arsed joining a Beemer forum when I know there are owners on here and also lots of knowledge too. thanks Chris
You no need to join the forums, if it’s a common enough fault Google can help. It’s possibly you riding into Wales where they have no technology. https://www.ukgser.com/community/threads/1250gs-sos-emergency-call-failure-message-on-tft.297912/ https://www.ukgser.com/community/threads/sos-failure-almost-consistently.340105/
I did google it as I always do but most posts seem to be ‘take it to a dealer’ which I’m not doing or there was not any actual fix for it.
Best I could find was: Seems this is the best official line as that is almost to a tee what I was told regarding the issue. One of three things- Software Faulty switch Or faulty speaker. One poster replaced the switch which cured his issue.
This is why I hate technology on bikes . I might try and find a replacement switch for it as they are known to let in water or it might be some black tape over the light if that fails.
I had the ABS light on for my RT1150 but a little black tape cured that until such time I pulled the bulb out.
Well I resorted to the tried and tested method of disconnecting the battery, I also stripped the switch down and cleaned it (not really much to clean as it’s all potted in) and the light is now cleared. See how long it stays that way . Thank you @DucatiScud for taking the time to help
Maybe invest in an OBDStar, which will allow you to clear faults and/or reset or diagnose many software related issues/fault codes. https://www.obd2shop.co.uk/wholesal...JrS_vgoEIAhxMgSguIiqredPTgUZ8X2caAhXPEALw_wcB or try these.... https://www.bmdiag.co.uk/SKU7-2?gad...pAtYIU1GR3GKQGsX2poPEPzh_GnXbXhwaAt3GEALw_wcB https://www.motorworks.co.uk/workshop-service-items/tools-workshop-equipment/diagnostics.html
I have Motoscan. A little bit of setup cost ( think it was around £120 at the time ), but it's done everything asked of it.... I baulked at the price of a gs-911
