Test rode the Sport version on Friday (along with the R9T, which was very disappointing, not a match to even the 1100 evo in almost every respect imo). Impressed by the genuinely effortless performance, planted handling, sound and amount of tech for the price. I know it's not a Ducati and certainly not as stylish/special, but has anyone considered this as an genuine alternative before deciding on the monster 1200S?
Certainly bike of the moment. Shame it looks so bland and just seems... uninteresting... a bit like the S1000RR really.
I hope Ducati will consider guess reviving the street fighter with a new model - it'll certainly give the likes of S1000r and 1290 SuperdukeR a run for their money.....
I think the s1000rr is just a bit boring looking, and lacking "soul" and I was just thinking if the streetfighter second hand prices dropped a bit, I would be very tempted to swap my tuono for one.
I've ridden the s1000r and thought it was superb. Bizarrely it felt like they'd engineered in a little something, I hate to say 'soul' as that's just gumphfff but it definitely wasn't bland. I'd have one no question, but I'd paint it black or gunmetal and make it look meaner rather than pretty.... Just can't polish a turd
Really, I've not ridden a streetfighter but figured they would pretty good, I have a 2004 tuono r, do you think a newer tuono is better than the streetfighter?
I mean newer ie v2 rather than v4r. Just fancy a change, but I do think the tuono is amazing. I think the term "soul" really just means to me the the lumps and bumps that creates a noise or vibration that gives presence, an extension of riding, I loved my cb1000r for some reason but didn't excite me, needed to be quicker and edgy like the tuono ( and it's exhaust bottomed out when getting a bit frisky ) that beside the point.
I'd say so yes, but it depends what you want. The SF1098 (s) is full of torque but still a tad lumpy and definitely slower in the turns. The Tuono aprc v4 sounds epic, goes like a missile and handles like its on rails. tuono is more cramped if you're long legged, definitely has a harder seat, arguably doesn't look as nice. Oh and the mpg is shite But I loved mine, nearly got another. Fact is that the 1098sfs was miles over priced at £15k, if it was the same as a tuono then it's a tougher choice
My mate did the beemer and prilia one weekend after the other. Prilia was better balanced, electronics better and more of an animal feel, in his view. He's waiting to try the Beast before he decides and bit worried about spares etc but believes prilia gonna be hard to beat
I certainly did not expect it to sounded loud and mean but it does, even at idle, which I thought was quite deliberate by BMW. Your are right about the looks, white is probably the most purposeful standard colour, never looks as right as a Ducati in red.
Mate said at 100mph you may as well have a sail added to your torso, it is so uncomfy and no wind protection whatsoever. The tuono was way better
I find them all the same tbh , ok I'm pretty tall but even the Tuono tires you over any distance due to wind blast. It does without a doubt sound awesome and that's what pulls most people in, I reckon I'd buy another but I'd have to get a screen on it just the same as the BMW
I really want to try one, but lest wait until the multi is 2 years old and I'm getting ready to give back to Ducati
Well, if the Tuono is anything like my RSV4 factory then it really is something else...ive owned mine for a couple of years now and cant see anything to replace it (at the price). Got my first niggle (rocker cover heads leaking a little) but apparently there is a revised set of parts to replace which are on order but Aprilia tend to move at their own speed when it comes to spares, so, while not a problem i may have to take it to the TT as is...
