Right then, I'm still looking for a pair of boots and someone suggested Altberg to me, anybody on here had any experience with these boots please ?
Had my Clubman lite for about 12 years. They're super comfy on and off the bike. Totally waterproof. Only downside is that they look like something your grandad would wear. Not very power ranger but I like mine. They're the same ones that several police forces use for their bike cops.
Thank you @Gilps, I have passed the age of wanting to be a power ranger Made to measure or off the shelf ?
I had mine off the shelf. They did half sizes back then which were perfect for me. Not sure they still do that off the shelf though. They offer a refurb/resole service too but I've not needed to use it. A mate has the Hog boots which are good if you want something less bikey. He swears by his
I've had a pair of their hiking boots for about 20 years, waterproof, good quality. Don't think you'll look that MotoGP though
Don't mess about, get yourself a pair of Daytonas. Top quality, comfortable, CE rated and will last a lifetime. Or that's what I was told when I bought mine!
Been down, or should I say tried to go down the Daytona route. Wanted a pair of their M Stars, because I'm a short arse, but they only go up to size 43, so a little bit too snug. Then tried their Travel Star Pro, only to find that there was to much play at the back of the heel area, which meant my heel chaffed on the boot, even tried them with an insole fitted ? Hence the possible Altberg alternative. Really not too fussy what they look like as long as their comfortable on and off the bike, and protect my feet in the event of an accident, oh! and waterproof.
The only off the shelf boots that fit my feet (wide fitting + high instep) and calf muscles are Daytonas. About ten years ago I wanted a dual use waterproof boot, motorcycle and work. A trip to the Altberg factory and a few weeks later a pair of made to measure Hogg boots arrived in the post. Not cheap, but the fit and overall quality made them worth every penny. A bit too chunky to use easily on some bikes eg Hypermotard but fine on others eg BMW boxer but that's the nature of the dual use - I doubt Altberg motorcycle specific boots have the same issue. The Hoggs are still going strong and if I do ever need a repair or resole I'll simply have another day out to North Yorkshire... British made and strongly recommended. I also have a set of Daytona GTX boots, 10 years old and are just about due for retirement. Brilliant boots for a touring road bike. Not sure if all Daytona boots have CE rated armour but the GTXs will be replaced with another set of Daytonas, the Travel Star Pro (which are def. CE rated). If only somebody made decent track boot in a wide enough fitting...
