If all politicians were as funny as Boris, they'd have a better name. I liked Chirac - a complete embezzling shyster but he was always so amusing and charming.

The way that Boris: * is highly intelligent and well educated, and not afraid to show it; * has ideas of his own and is not afraid to express them; * makes mistakes and doesn't weasel out of them is almost enough to offset the fact that he is very right-wing. But not quite.
All true. But you sort of get the impression that you could talk him round. He's too bright not to understand the other side of the argument - and I think probably has quite an open mind. But Old Etonians.... they can't all be George Orwell, eh?
Thats exactly it Glid....you just feel he ACTUALLY listens....and if justified, would do something about it...Old etonian he may be, but much more connected to the rest of us he certainly seems to be.....
Did you ever see the episode of "Who Do You Think You Are ?" on Boris, turned out he was more closely related to all of Europes historic Royal dynisties than Queen. Was a good watch.
He's far more entertaining than most of the other politicians and seems to say what he thinks rather than what the government wants, we can all do with a laugh.
Actually, Boris for PM! I'd almost find it hard not to vote Tory if that was a possibility. The strange thing with Boris is that he seems trustworthy. That's quite a frightening thought when it comes to politicians.
I agree, Boris might come across as a bit of an idiot but he seems closer to the average man than that lot in power. I think he would make some sensible changes to our laws and get us back on our feet! Plus he's so funny to watch that you can forgive him his apparent simpleness.
