Anybody got any demon tips/suggestions on the two bolts that join the fairings at the bottom. I find them a right pita!
What have you currently? i have 2 well nuts and are not to bad. i believe others have the 9*6 setup of 2 Dzus D-ring and cable tie together.
i changed them for the 748E Base model fairing screws as it doesn't have Duz fasteners as standard. i also changed the back plate to a screw plate, from the Duz version.
I have the two well-nuts and always have trouble with them. Is there a way to get them to work better I wonder??
Spring clips with captive nuts and some bolts. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M5-M6-SP...hash=item545924e5ae:m:mahRbO_PtzlvrUSVmoNrBfg
I have dzus on my 749. They are an absolute arse to install as it is very tricky to get the lower fairings to mate together while also trying to insert the fastener. Once done though I put some lovely black duct tape over them to prevent them from falling out.
Not sure why the wellnuts are falling out. They are inserted up through the 'top' fairing and this holds them in place. Once they've been tightened a few times they tend to develop a permanent bulge which keeps them in place. I always find the front easier to get in first, then squeeze the sides together with one hand to get the rear one in.
I think the wellnuts must have been in on this thread. I just put the bolts back and they went in sweet as a (well) nut...
Side panels attached to top fairing (I've dzus for those) Attach the lower panel rear screws (below/behind foot rests) loosely Then front screw in first, then rear It's easier on paddock stands as clearance then for a T-bar to spin between your fingers to engage the thread. Comment above, once the captives have bulged a bit they are 'tight'. I gaffa tape over the bottom screws and the rear ones, esp' if track daying
Last time I did the well nuts, I used an Allen key ‘socket’ from a socket set and it made engaging the well nut with the bolt enormously easier than using the y shaped Allen key I’ve normally used.
