Bought a big V twin but not made it Italy....

  1. Picked up a new 'to me' bike today

    A RC8R 1190 TRACK

800 miles on it and its like new. 1 owner etc etc

Was considering a Pani but by the time you buy the bike and then prep it for the track, they are bloody expensive, even if financially I could manage it, I am just a bit miffed with the Ducati prices at the moment.

The TRACK version of the RC8R has

    WP Race cartridges
    WP Race spec shock
    Slipper
KLS Shifter ( that can work in both patterns)
    Rear sets
    Poly (bloody well made)
    Full Titanium system with ecu
    Higher comp ratio
    Mag forged wheels
Flip up levers with lH side adjuster
    Axle, engine and tank sliders

    ++
    ++

Give it a go and see what its like.

Why don't other manufacturers propose track ready bikes?

  2. Tbf because they don't need to. The beemer or kwak will piss anything anyway, and the prilla will be light as air. Ducati stopped making race bikes into road bikes with the T9 imho

  3. I have a 999R and believe me its a bloody mile off being a fully prepped track bike!

Spent a bloody fortune on it. Nice bike though but just getting a bit old now.

Even a beemer or Kwak need lots of road stuff stripping off (lights, fairings, tyres etc etc) and money spent on it before you use it as a pure track bike.

  4. I love it :upyeah:

  5. Big thumbs up here. How does it compare with your T9?

  6. Here is a few more pics, better quality. The more I look at it the more impressed I am. Well prepped.

Will tell you how it compares after the 15th July when I am next on the track. Its lighter with 25 bhp more (177 bhp) so should go well enough.

  7. You'll love that on track I assure you. If your racing it you'll be fine noise wise but with the Akra Evo can on (can't fit baffles) its borderline on noise in many places.
KTM have done a great job on it, North Gloucester RR at Mallory yesterday KTM's were 1s,t 2nd and 3rd in the Sound of Thunder, a few years ago that was Ducati.

Oh and thank god, I was expecting a bloody Harley.

  8. Yes I am concerned about the noise ( started it in the trailer on the way home and thought a bomb had gone off). It has the Titanium AKRA system but was delivered with a baffle still in the box, I have checked and there is a hole to screw in the baffle etc. will try it without and see. I live in the South West of France and they are not such a pain in the arse here.

  9. Sadly track spec is the only way to enjoy 177 bhp over there

  10. Looks great I agree more manufacturers should make a track version it would cost them very little to make one available. What's the Ktm motto, 'ready to race' :)

  11. It's a really nice purposeful bit of kit , but I don't like the colours , now a nice deep blue on the frame and replacing the KTM orange elsewhere , wow that would look awesome.

  12. Very nice! Happy for you! Have a good time, and do report back how good she is on track!

  13. I do like the KTMs. Should be a lot of fun...whilst making an awesome noise:upyeah:

  14. Love it

  15. Still no ridden the bugger yet. Need to wait until August end at Magny Cours before I get a chance to tide it.

Out on the TZ this weekend though at Nogaro :upyeah: 2 full days...

  16. I'm sure it's marvellous but they do look weird.

  17. I like them and they are brilliant bikes to ride. But as I've said in other posts a Kinder egg is better finished bodywork wise. IYSWIM

  18. It is fitted with the KTM race fairings and I have to say they are excellent. Not seen many othe rtrack fairings that fit so well and reinforced in all the right areas.

Yes looks wise they are a bit strange but its growing on me. That said my 999 is not exactly beautiful! The KTM is a much 'cleaner' design.

Of the (few) bikes I own, in the looks department, its the Aprilia RS250 mk 2 that is the most beautiful. Love that bike and when I go to a small track it the first loaded in to the trailer!

  19. Awesome bike, ive been eyeing the road going version up myself!

  20. fxxk it, take it out for a cheeky midnight spin!
