I bought the model 7623W and tested it at speed today. I think it's better for long distance cruising than the original, at least for me being 181 cm. However, for dirt roads and similar it's not as good as the original. If I try to look thru the screen to see what's immediately in front of the front wheel, the view is somewhat distorted. But considering all, a good purchase for my purposes.
I'm 190cm and I have the PUIG sports screen which is absolutely brilliant. I've tried multiple taller screens and the screen I settled on provides great wind protection given it's size and I don't experience any buffeting at all. Also, you may want to try the Iconic 3D printed spacers to move the top of that touring screen away from you a bit which might help.
Have been around the houses with screens for the 1260 Mutley. have tried the std OEM screen (obvs), Puig Touring, Puig Sport, Touratech and the Pikes Peak carbon shield. The first four I've tried with and without Iconic spacers. The best all round solution for me, it's very subjective, is the std screen with the spacers. However, I've recently been converted to the Puig Sports screen with spacers as there's no buffeting whatsoever, though there's slightly more wind noise, as my day to day solution. For long trips/tours I'll probably change back to the Std screen plus spacers for less wind noise. There are many variables involved that will impact noise as well a buffeting; helmet, clothing, rider height and riding posture, amongst others. It's notable that with the new bike (1260s to a 1260PP) and my return to the Puig Sports screen coincides with a change from a Shoei GT Air to a Shoei Neotec 3. This might explain why the Puig Sports screen is now finding favour where previously it didn't.
Interesting points, thanks! I may end up with a collection of screens...but I'll wait till spring to do the real evaluation of this touring screen. Good to know there are more alternatives to try if this one isn't good enough!
I think you're mixing printed press and forum discussions. So what if there is another thread on the matter, it's a valid topic. Move on or contribute.
