Bought My First Ducati

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by TBay, Sep 7, 2023.

  1. So I was looking for a M900 monster, or possibly a 750, no projects, had to be spot on ready to go……….

What have I bought? A 1997 750ss project. I must be mad but just fell in love with it. Should be a simple one (been there, laughed at that comment). But will be worth it.

Going to need a few bits, where is the best place for service parts and spares in the U.K.?

  2. Welcome.

  3. Welcome to the forum.:)

  4. Firstly welcome
A great choice of bike, that’ll keep you busy!
I tried without success taking my ‘97 900 to a local Ducati main dealer in the belief they would have the best knowledge available to sort out the running problems I was experiencing at the time.
After many failed revisits I decided to take it to a local Honda now Yamaha dealer
I’ve known the head mechanic there since my school days and he was more than able to get the bike up and running, and at a very reasonable cost.
I was reaching the end of my tether and all for getting shut of it, but so glad I didn’t.
So what I’d say is do some research and don’t jump to conclusions
As for spares this forum has a deep understanding, history and knowledge on all things Ducati so just ask.
Also Stein-Dinse GmbH are a well stocked and reliable source for parts.
Good luck and post up some photos

    (hopefully it’s not yellow!)
    :)
