I've watched both series of this and really enjoyed them. Stuff going out in clacton though.did some door work about 10 years ago, no way I'd do it now.
Used to be fun years ago, but seems a lot more dangerous these days. I knocked it on the head after a massive brawl with pikeys back in the nineties, left my mate with life-threatening head injuries. Somehow the extra money didn't seem so important after that.
id say the mid to late nineties were the worst. thats when you had unlicensed animals on the doors. now the front staff are licensed and comparatively controlled. with the animals now behind the scenes patrolling in 4x4s lol
The animals now are the punters. The much wider-spread use of drugs mean they have less inhibitions, and don't know when they are beaten. A lot more nippers are tooled up these days too. It's not a job I'd fancy these days.
It's changed ... The worst thing I dealt with was a call to a girl with a cut leg .... Turned out some bloke had bitten a chunk out of her leg .. Not a bite mark and full mouth of her leg.. Found him called for back up got none! Rang upstairs to other bar they told me to lock the bar .. The guy then started punching in the windows blood everywhere. Guess what told don't call the cops or we get a reputation and a black mark!!! So I'm stuck with a girl mauled and a bloke going berserk ... Stuff it I called the police !!! There was 20 grown men upstairs all strut about thinking there it ... So they didn't come and help me ! Tossers .. I then got told off for calling the police . After that I thought f this .. Weddings the worst brawl after brawl It's not fun anymore working in pubs or bars wouldn't want to be on door. Colchester is hell at night ... Ipswich Is also CHAV Central ...I head for the outskirts as it's mental in town at night Knifed up 18 year old scum usually
Even better when your walking out in the day and some mouthy git starts on you !! So god knows what doormen get! Saw a tiny lady on the door the other week! Maybe she's an ankle biter like me
