Multi 1200s 2013 - 62K miles. I think is time to replace the front discs - they are now down to 3.9mm. A minimum thickness of 4.0mm is stamped on the disc. Brembo 78.B408.78 look good and we know of Brembo quality but I wonder whether SBS 5044 are as good. SBS are cheaper but are 5mm thick compared to the more expensive Brembo which are 4.5mm thick. Any of you used SBS discs and do you recommend or no stars.
Not sure if they’re available for the Mut or, for that matter, anything else but I had Braketech discs on my R1. The cheaper version, iron, are supposed to be very, very good. Iron, prone to surface rust, unless kept immaculate, is a very good braking surface. Possibly worth a look. Try BikeHPS. They are a supplier. I had the ceramic version on my R1.. Nothing has ever matched their performance.. Nothing! Quite simply the best brakes I’ve ever used.
The interesting question about Brembo/SBS would be "where are they made, and what's the difference?" - bearing in mind that Brembo appear to have bought SBS https://www.brembo.com/en/company/news/brembo-acquisition-sbs-friction
I have used SBS and they warped nicely, as did my original Brembos. They all seem to warp and it seems to be a Ducati trademark. I would just get whatever is easiest and convenient for you - or see if anyone else is in the market...
Arrived last week and going in this Friday. Luckily I was in Europe for a couple of weeks so ordered them from CarpiMoto, they arrived in 3 days, well packaged, excellent email communication , great price!! Cost me £20 to book a suitcase on Ryanair to get them home.
I guess it will be Brembo at the end. Very good prices in EU but not by the time they arrive in UK...
