  1. Hi All

Just changed front brakes on my 2010 Ducati Monster 696 and i lost some fluid from the reservoir. It says on the lid 3+5. Could some one please help with this. What does that mean?

    Thanks

  2. Hi Niall,

The DOT rating refers to the temp at which the fluid boils. The cap is stating the cylinder is good for either DOT 3 or DOT 5. HOWEVER, DOT 5 is a silicon based fluid and should not be mixed with DOT 3 (or 4). DOT 3 & 4 are glycol based and one or other of them would have been used by the factory. Buy yourself a small bottle of DOT 4 and use that to top up with. I say DOT 4 as it’s more readily available IME.

    hope this helps.
