Considering bunging some new pads in the front of my 899 for next year as well as some new fluid, probably motul rbf660 as I've used it before. Any recommendations on some decent front pads? I've been told the brembo z04's are supposed to be epic earth stoppers??? Any input or further recommendations ?
I put the Sintered SC ones on the 959 and they were much better than standard. The Z04's are only really recommended for track. Brembo Brake Pads for Ducati motorcycles
I've been told the initial bite is as good as oe. And my bikes going to be mainly track next year buddy .. Are z04's unnecessary though/overkill? Is there sheer stopping ability going to cause me suspension complaints?
Z04's are for pro race yes they stop a lot if at correct temperature... Probably if use it on road SC are better
I'm another fan of the SCs. Got them fitted to the 1098R and 853 track bike. Good feel, progressive and work at normal riding pace temperature. Andy
I run the SBS Dual Carbon Pads. Great wear and a really good initial bite At Circa £60/pair, they're 99.9% as good as the Brembo Pads at a qtr of the price. EBC pads are reasonable, but produce a huge amount of brake dust compared to the SBS and Brambo parts I wouldn't run DC pads if you're doing any day to day road riding, as they're utterly shocking until you get some heat into them Probably fine if you're only doing faster road riding (i.e. Sunday blast), but be mindful that they need heat
Brembo SC's are £75 for the 899. EBC I wouldn't touch with a barge pole after some really poorly quality car pads/discs. Anything that is more track focused is daft on the road, especially if you ever ride in the wet or the motorway. There is no worse feeling that grabbing the brake and nothing happening for 100yds!
I put SBS RS pads on mine and changed fluid to motul RBF600 Not had a chance to try them yet though as it's away for the winter now
