What do people think & would you use one??? Its a wireless LED brakelight you stick to the rear of your bash hat.
I would try one out I think it's a good idea Got me thinking about a headlight at the front as many drivers don't see a bike coming and pull out on them How many accidents happen from behind against forwards?
That is a very good question, sadly the statistics I could find after a quick search don't seem to break down the information to that detail. I know of 1 rear ender but that was in full daylight and was a moving speed differential, bike was doing 30mph and the car was doing 40 mph whilst the driver was on the phone. A bright eyelevel brake light would have made no difference in that instance. Andy
I doubt plod would take too much attention to be honest. DB makes the obvious point, most of us have trouble with people seeing the front, not the back. It's $119 plus postage https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/brakefree-the-smart-brake-light-for-motorcyclists-motorcycle#/ I wouldn't buy one personally and I'm not always convinced leds work best in daytime sunlight
Fair comment, tho' as it happens I was once gently rear-ended by a car while stopped at the lights late one night -- clear weather, no other traffic, no noticeable damage. It was 30 years ago, so hopefully a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
If a drive don't see you with std lights then for sure they will not see you even if your helmet is glowing, they are just paying attention to something else at that time, most likely they phone.
Been hit twice from behind in traffic. Both times by the same guy, within 15 seconds of each other. Felt the nudge, turned to look and he was staring off to his right, daydreaming. Paid no attention to me gesturing so I pulled forward 2 ft and he just continued to crawl slowly into me again (still daydreaming off to the right). Second hit, I got his attention and an apology. He only nudged me rear tyre and I'm not a complete arsehole so left it at that and didn't claim whiplash, loss of earnings etc I don't think lights on your rear are going to be the difference. Improving front visibility and stopping those junction T-Bones is what's going to matter lost.
