Hi all, I am about to replace brake pads soon on my Multistrada 1260 S, MY19. As there are many different options and compounds on Brembo website, I cannot figure out which would be most similar (or exactly the same) as OEM. For the fronts: Premium Road SA, LA, Genuine Sinter 95, 97, 59, 84... For the rears: Premium road CC, SP, Genuine CC 30, Sinter 59 etc... If someone could help, I appreciate... On Brembo website, it says suggested for: Fronts Genuine sinter 95 and rear premium road carbon ceramic... Thanx Goran
Earlier in the summer I went with Brembo for peace of mind, other manufacturers are out there... Fitted SA front and rear. Not at all unhappy with that choice though the OEM discs are pretty rubbish in so much as they seem slightly warped, have done since new, and groan and moan as I push the bike around. This is a standard feature apparently... Adding a smear of Copper Slip sparingly to the back of the pads and giving everything a clean with a toothbrush and brake cleaner when I changed the pads helped. This solved the issue and all was good for a week long trip to do the NC500 where it didn't rain once... However, once I had ridden in the rain the noises were back. Swapping the originals for Serie Oro discs allegedly solves this, albeit at a premium price. They also do a 'Genuine' range of pads which their site claims to be used by bike manufacturers. Bought my SA pads off of eBay, having checked out the seller. Go by part number as the same caliper is used across quite a few models and marques.
I can assure you that swapping for Serie Oro discs makes no difference to the squeaks! But the braking performance is much improved (combined with the Red pads, whichever ones they are)
Oh, really? Thought that they were the solution. Mine's quite embarrassing TBH, not so much that I'm going to spend a large wedge of cash to resolve it though. The red ones are the SAs that I've fitted, though with the original discs. Braking power hasn't been a problem for me though maybe the SA pads are a marginal improvement.
I understood from the somewhat short on info Brembo site that both are current. There are slightly differences in compound, if you believe the charts, with the LA a little harder wearing but having slightly less coefficient of friction under heavy braking. Practically bugger all difference on the road though.
Thanx everyone for answers. I get it, Brembo premium SA would be good for front pads - these are sintered compound. But what about rear ones? The ones that are “recommended” by Brembo are carbon ceramic compound (premium road carbon ceramic) which shows less friction on the graph, so I believe they are softer and more gentle to the disc. The red (premium SA) is sintered compound, but this might damage the OEM rear disc? What is OEM rear compound, sintered or carbon ceramic? Thanx G
