Not only was the weather perfect for a blast across the A272 to Petersfield today but I also got to try a couple of upgrades out. Now I have to say that having read a lot of posts about how upgrading the Multi's calipers to Brembo M4's was one of the best (if not the best) modifications you can make, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it oh and at the same time get the guys at P&H in Crawley to fit a Translogic QS . The result on both of these is fantastic, the stopping power and feel from the brakes is much improved and the QS definitely helps my PP pick it's petticoat up & get off the line quicker but the bigger change is how much smoother and more stable it makes the bike when pushing on! To say I'm chuffed is an understatement!
Is there an off the peg offering of a QS for the multi, or does it requiring a generic one with a bit of fettling?
Hi, It's a specific QS for the Multi. Mines a twin spark 2013 model but I think they also do one for the previous version. Here's the weblink: Ducati QUICKSHIFTER from Translogic, Complete PLUG AND PLAY System - Fit the Best It really is good. Cheers.
How does the QS work (does it activate the clutch & gears)? Does the little dial change how high up the rev's it activates, is there a light on the dash to show its turned on or is it permanently on now?
As far as i'm aware ( i can just about wire a plug you see ) it kills the throttle for a millisecond or two but doesn't do anything to the clutch. you can keep the throttle pinned and rather than getting any driveline movement it smooths everything out. No lights as it is permanently live, although you can obviously use the clutch normally if you like.
I have bought my m4 calipers second hand with no brakepads in place. Are you willing to share that infoermation with me ? Thanks in advance
I got mine from an italian firm on eBay, here's the link: Calipers Brembo M4 int.100 KTM Ducati MV Agusta Benelli | eBay
From what i am reading/watching from y/t vbloggers, you don't have to use the clutch too up-shift & you can nail the throttle open. But you still need to use the clutch for down-shifting. Sounds ace & do you inform your insurance & will it invalidate your bikes warranty?? Are you planning on making a video of QS?
Yes you've got it about right. I think it'll be ok on the warranty and you should inform your insurance of any modifications yes. Not sure on a video though, sorry
Not sure if you can do this with the translogic version but the QS I had fitted to my 916sps had a switch to turn it on/off.You can see it in this old pic between the clip on brackets and radial master cylinder.I couldn't have had it switched on all the time as no point round town and would have drove me mad.Only point to me seemed to be when I was giving it the beans on very long straights at max revs. I removed it the following week after the ducati mechanics advised me to buy a spare gearbox if I planned on keeping the QS .Mine was the older Ducati JHP Tectronic version.
Ahh nice too see someone else coming on board with these mods. I've had my TL QS on since Nov (yes it's bike specific for the MTS1200). It's a little harsh 1-2nd but up through the other cogs it's seamless. I just analogue old school into 2nd and game on from there. Which is pretty much the way I've gotta ride it with the 42-T rear sprocket to prevent flipping the beast or pulling monos bloody everywhere. The M4's I've had on for 20 or so months combined with the BrakeTech Iron rotors. Using Ferodo CP1 pads.
Jeez you boys must be ragging it on track and road to need all these mods..superbike brakes, quickshifter for lower laptimes, big open systems, lower gearing for more punch off a corner... Think I'll stick to wobbling mine around in 3rd and 4th and taking my time and leaving it std
Good for you old trout. I'm still wobbling about with all the mods just more quickly and more noise ;-)
