Does anyone know if the OE pads are available outside of the st(d)ealer channel ? I don't have any issue with the existing pads capability so for balance (as rear is fine and does not need replacing) I was looking to replace with the same avoiding Ducati's mark up for putting it in a branded bag I've been on the Brembo configurator for the bike and it does give my the "suggested" pad, though not sure if the friction material is the same as the existing pads. Genuine - Sinter | Pads | Genuine | Motorcycle Brakes Configurator MTS Manual gives the material description as follows, but cant see any correlation on the Brembo site. Front Friction material: TT 2172. Rear Friction material: FERIT I/D 450 FF I can of course go the other routes with EBC etc, but if I can get the OE pads at equivalent cost then that is my preference.
I thought the SA pads were the equivalent Brembo Motorcycle | Motorbike Brake Pads . I put in the SC pads from HPS and its like a different bike, I admit I'm a crap rider but even with my shit skills the range of braking over oem is incredible, well worth trying.
I may well end up doing the same. Seems the SA are touted as an "upgrade" to the standard OE. The SA's seems to have better cooler stopping and do well across the entire temp range. The SC's whilst also good appear to be tailored to be better at the hotter end of the scale. Needing brakes that will perform off the bat so I may go for the SA's. Both will no doubt still out perform OE at any level.
I thought the same so went a bit anal on researching the pads. I can 100% say the SC pads stone cold at the top of the furka pass 6 degrees work straight off the bat! as they warm they just get better and better, but stone cold or on mway in the rain you touch em they brake and hard, they IMHO work better than OEM cold, id happily bin them if they didn't. This was my thread working through it Brake Pad Question - May Be Stupid But I'm Confused | Ducati Forum but the graphs from brembo show the best info, basically the pad stone cold has a higher friction coeficiant than the SA. So you need less lever pressure (stone cold) for the same breaking force with SC than SA. Thats how I understood it (but school wasn't my strong point). The best bit i found was it got rid of that noise when the OE were wet coming to a stop . I must say i also put new disks on brembo serie ore so this may have helped along with the RBF600 fluid. pays your money and takes your choice, i think OEM, SA or SC will all be fine. Im pleased with SC but as I said , I'm no riding god.
Great response and you have helped loads. Ill opt for the SC's given your great feed back. Many thanks.
fantastic news so pleased your pleased, you never know when you recommend something especially as I know don't pretend to be a riding god. I came down the m4 last night in torential rain and tried them from cold soaking wet, they worked fine. The one thing i did find which another member said was that as they 'feel' more powerful i noticed the dive more so I've stiffened up the front suspension as well. Well enjoy and and as I said I did the brembo serie ore disks too (mine were badly pitted due to all year riding , cosmetic but I didn't like it) and better brake fluid RBF600. Have fun and ride safe.
