hi Guys Starting to look at the brakes now and to be fare although adequate stock items on the 1000s are at best they are in the budget stakes. has anybody fitted the Brembo P4 4 pad 4 piston items, as fitted standard to 999r and Aprilia Mille. These goldlines have 65mm spacing and I have used them on several bimotas I have had on the past. Any info appreciated. Oh I am for the foreseeable future using stock wheels. CT
Check on Ducati.ms I think there may be an issue with the brakes fouling the standard wheels . This is a mod I would like to try.
P4\34 calipers need to have the brake lines changed if fitted to the 748-9** series, not sure about the 749-999 series. Maybe someone could clarify that.
mmmm Seems a lot of work? i wanted to keep the stock wheels this year so perhaps i will wait. I can get some of the brembo goldline 2 pad versions to play with so may put them up and see what the issues are. cheers CT
hi Carl all the information i get from ducatims p4p4 is a common upgrade when people changing the wheels(tubless reason). i did that few years ago ,so cant remember all the details
I think you will need to use spacers for the calipers so they don't foul the spokes and also not 100% sure if the rotors are 10mm offset, if so you'll need to change to 15mm offset rotors since you have spaced out the calipers, hopefully someone on here can help on which bikes use 15mm offset rotors
Speak to JHP I remember years ago they were putting AP calipers onto SC's..can't remember anymore than that.
Maybe you need to machine 5mm off the lugs which bolt on to the forks to give the clearance your needing
Hi Guys Thanks for your help I will get some machined down to fit, I have done this before so that's fine.
i just did this. you cannot straight swap brembo 4p4p onto the oem forks with standard oem spoke wheel and standard oem rotors. you have a considerable interference fit w rotor AND some issue with clearance of the wheel. the brake lines are the leasst of the issue. I ran stock lines with a slight bowing out, but no affectation to performance. that said - the classic upgrade is 999 wheels, mts1200 rotors, and brembo 4p4p. all that bolts up with original spacers and runs perfect. and you can leave the lines if need be.
Picked up a set of brembo calipers , machined them to fit and sent them off for full service and refurb , I decided on silver instead of gold. They arrived back today Aghhhhh silver looks like feck all ...... Anyone doing this choose gold, black , red even pink but not silver.
Soooo is it feasible to spray calipers black, if so what paint do you use ? They really need to be mat black though .
There are some articles & posts on various web sites & forums on the subject of caliper painting. Most relate to cars, but the principle should be roughly similar: Simple guide to painting calipers - Detailing World Brake Caliper Paint Kits. VHT Paint in a Big Range of Colours Do the people who did the refurb on the calipers offer a painting service?
Yea it's away back , stripped , media blasted ( think that's what it's called ) re painted and oven baked, basically to factory finish.i think on this bike I can't go half measures.
