Brembo Reservoirs

  1. I went out on my newly acquired 999 the other day and I ended up with clutch and brake fluid droplets all over the forks and clocks - I quickly wiped it off (all OK and no damage done) and promptly went back home. Please note that I have remote reservoirs as the bike has RCS16 Brembo brake and clutch master cylinders.

Roll forward to today and I undid the screws and took the tops and seals out and bleed both systems out. I then made sure that the seals were clean and put the tops back on making sure that they were screwed down nice and tight. Then went for a fairly long ride but the same thing is still happening!! Are these type of reservoirs junk? I will have to replace both of them but should I just replace them with standard reservoirs that have screw on caps?

  2. Are your hoses betwwen the pots and m/cyls tight?

  3. check the hoses have not perished and are oozing fluid

  4. The hoses seem fine and the fluid seems to be coming from the cap. It is almost as if the seals are either faulty or the cap is not fitting flush onto the seal. I have tightened the screws down but still doing it. [IMG]

  5. Its no help to yu but visually the std items look much nicer IMHO.

  6. Get some screw cap type reservoirs.

  7. I would say the stalks they are on probably don't help, there must be a load of vibs going on.

  8. I thought the same today when I was watching them vibrate but the ones on my 916SPS never leak (uprated master cylinder and remote reservoirs as well).

I think it may be the after market gold caps. Perhaps they are fake ones??

  9. bingo then , put the proper McCoy on and ditch the bling. ;)

  10. I'd agree that it might be the caps, I would try stock ones.

  11. you knoe if you do ditch the gold ones you will have to put something else gold on to address the fen schweeeee:wink:

  12. Its because the are gold coloured (a naturally greater manufacturing tolerance as a result, hence the leaks). The same thing happened to Jimmy Saville, his gold tracksuit bottoms were always too big and ended up round his ankles leading to leakage too...
