Announced https://www.britishsuperbike.com/ne...N9xZaMqSXG_hKLsoT8efRBCKmGbtb2qPjaFvllRhQcrgc Imho not a move he’ll enjoy success with. But wish him all the best. Who will jump on the Rapido bike now then…… Iddon? Petrucci?
Love the line “my best shot at winning the title”. That would be on a bike the Moto Rapido bike has consistently outperformed this season. SorryMate.com, you had your best opportunity in 2021 and your naive tactics lost you the championship. Rumour at Brands was Glen Irwin will be the other PBM rider. Andy
I was standing in a queue for a (proper) coffee and got chatting to a lady who was the mum of (an undisclosed) team mechanic. It was an interesting 15 minutes, listening to her take on the championship and what rumours were circulating the paddock. Her take on Glen Irwin leaving Honda was that Honda were looking to get out of the ‘factory team’ model and spread their support across independent teams. I wouldn’t like to comment or second guess why TB is off to PBM. Andy
I don't think it's just money for TB, but more that it's possible they have offered him a proper crew chief and an electronics engineer from the factory like most supported teams. That's no disrespect to Wilf, quite the opposite, the blokes a braniac, but I just don't think he can compete on money (in all senses not just salary) with the guy who has the resources paul bird does. The other thing, for those saying Paul Bird will be the worst guy to work for, I kinda agree but then he's been super chilled and stood behind Brookes for the last two years, the old Paul Bird would have got rid of him after a few bad rounds.
Rapido seem to have a bit of both: factory support and independent means to go in their own direction
Not Petrucci then…. https://www.motorcyclesports.net/ar...dakar-2024-danilo-petrucci-s-options-for-2023
I never saw Petrucci as an option... why would he? he can race in America where there is pretty much no depth of field (sorry to say it, just look at the results sheets, you have people finishing 6th who are 30-40 seconds off the win) but still earn mega money still... If he comes to the UK, he's likely to earn pocket money.
Agree. And it could be that a lot of the Rapido's superiority has been that independence and choice - e.g. K-Tech's latest through rod suspension.
Least surprising signing as it used to be pretty much announced at Brands when they were discussing rumours. Imho can’t see PBM being in the showdown again this year.
Having been team mates on the 1199 Panigale in PBM, I wonder if Shakey had any influence in that decision Andy
