Well, I've totally gone against what seems to be the majority view on here, and my own instinct and I'm having a pair of Bridgestone T30 tyres fitted tomorrow. I have PR3s on at the moment and really rate them but they seem to be in short supply at my dealer (?) and I thought I'd try a pair of these. Anyone got any advice regarding pressures for the Multi 1200?
Ok. I remember the MCN man saying he had a problem with pressures (traction light coming on) with this tyre and lowering the pressures cured it. I think. Or made it worse. Or killed him dead.
I,ve just had a pair of t30s fitted to my MTS and love them, nicely scrubed in now and they offer better grip in dry and wet than my old roadsmarts, you,ve made the right choice i emailed Bridgestone and asked them for the recommended tyre pressures for the t30s on an MTS and the came back 36 F. 42R which seems to suit the bike, can forward the email if you like.
Got them fitted today but not really had chance to try them yet. I emailed Bridgestone today also to ask them about pressures, mindful of the MCN mans experience. It'll be interesting to see if they've reviewed their advice. Are you running those pressures solo or fully loaded?
Running them solo and 2 up without any noticeable different Their reply below, I asked for pressures for 2 up riding You asked us a question on 8/23/2013 at 12:49:47 PM. The answer is: Thanks for your enquiry The recommended pressure for these tyres is:- 36 PSI Front 42 PSI Rear I hope that this helps. S. Gulliver Kind regards, Customer service department
Bridgestone came back to me yesterday with 36 front, 42 rear. Here's what I read in MCN when they put them on their long term MTS: "The immediate feeling was positive but with one major reservation. It was really cold (near freezing) for days on end and it appeared the traction control light was almost permanently on when accelerating hard. This had hardly ever happened with the Pirellis and the T30s should have offered better grip. Bridgestone recommended the tyres were run at 36psi front and 42psi rear; not in line with the Ducati pressures and I was sure this was to blame. I dropped the rear pressure to 36psi and immediately the traction control light stayed off, even when the bike was pinned wide open in the lower gears." Think I'll be experimenting a bit, but 42 does sound high for solo riding.
I,ll just off to France fully loaded with the wife in a week so will keep the pressures and report back, solo with 42psi has been fine so far, despite still being addicted to the acceleration and mid range wallop I have'nt seen the traction light come up. He must of been giving it some serious welly. Will let you know how I get on when I get back, likely reduce them aftewrwards
Thanks Franksie. I did think the same as you regarding MCN man, although but I guess your right hand is a bit more vigorous when you haven't paid for the bike with your own hard earned. I'm off to The Alps on the 16th with a group of mates. Where you heading?
Just off the La Rochelle and surrounding area to meet up with friends before heading North to Concale for a few days. Spain, France and Italy planned for next year
Now or on my trip? Now Walsall. A beautiful part of the West Midlands. Trip, we're whistle stop touring: Nancy, Swiss Alps, Como, Chamonix and a few others in 7 days. 6 of us altogether.
They're a friendly bunch down at Ducati Wton. Got the tyres fitted there actually. And a set of front pads which cost £127!
Bit dissappointed in them at the moment, friendly bunch as you say but when I bought the MTS from them they told me all the mods, recalls had been done, but my back brake was appalling, Scott kindly adjusted it for me the other day but the bike is currently at Riders Bristol having a fork seal replaced under warrenty, they checked my back brake and I was surprised to find the mod had not been done so they are currently doing it now for me. The bike was sold and serviced at W-ton before I bought it, I was told the mod had been done so just a little disappointed, now having to ask Riders to check all the other things have been done, ECU, coolant etc
