Among the random pile of bits I got with my bike was a bronze coloured exhaust heat sheild. Not sure if I prefer the black or bronze but can anyone tell me about the bronze one. Is it some sort of special edition "feature" or just some bolt on bling.
I had the same heat shield on my grey 2013 GT which was written off ..... the replacement later year (built 2014 but registered 2016) red GT has the more usual black coloured heat shield
It seems it is a standard Ducati part as when i had new tyres recently its Duc branded inside. Never thought about it but i was chatting to a bloke on Rutland Water recently with the same year bike and his was black, not sure what that means though!! Mick.
My 2014 pp has the odd (bronzeish) colored one. I replaced with carbon to match the rest of the bike. TBD how the carbon holds up to the heat.
Mine ended up scratched to shit as the footrest position meant the heels on my Alpinestars boots ran up and down it and i also rubbed off the frame paint as well ..coming from sports bikes i like the ball of my feet on footrests ..the engine paint rubbing off was from huge use of the rear brake while riding on gravel and rock trails in Norway as i dont really use the rear on the roads apart from maybe a quick dab to settle the rear end before cornering Think the bike was about 35000 miles by this point
Mine was this colour. I'm pretty sure it started life black and discoloured over time with heat. I had it re anodized black and it has been fine since
There’s a bike for sale on eBay that has a yellow cover!!! Would heat make it discolour as evenly as mine and Bigyin’s? Mick
I used to have an SV1000 with loud cans and straight through induction system. I do miss the noise but can't afford a full system yet. Just spent all my cash on the bike! May have to go for a slip-on initially to get a better noise from it but to be fair I'm getting so much noise of the fairing doubt I'd hear it anyway.
Don’t waste your money. Those end cans are just jewellery, wait till you can then ‘invest’ in the real thing.
They are black when new but turn that colour due to the intense heat of the exhaust. Strange but true... I restored mine with high temperature paint and that works well but as said your boot can still scratch it off as I've done
It was black when new but has "bronzed" over time , sand with 120 grit and respray with a flat black exhaust header spray bomb paint , which will probably require 3 heat treatments in your home oven [ mine was 250C , 400C and 550C at 30 minutes each , but results in a reasonably strong paint that will stay black .
I'll let you know as the replacement one is black ....despite them both being bought at 5-6000 miles and 2 years old Once i have recovered from the shoulder surgery and get back riding again will see if it changes colour
