Bsb Supersport 2022

  1. Anyone else know anything about what team is going to be running a V2 in Supersport next year? it was rumoured to be a big team, maybe PBM running one like they did in the Easton MonsterMob days?

What's peoples thoughts on the V2 and F3 800 being allowed in? I'm really interested to see it, selfishly I think it might promote manufacturers making smaller capacity homologation specials again for those of us that don't necessarily want a gazillion HP, for anyone who's ridden a 748R, if you know you know...

I personally have a F3 800, it's a different kettle of fish to the Daytona 765 engine so I think when restricted into Supersport trim it will lack torque, that said they might be able to make them more reliable for race teams to consider.

The V2 will need to be significantly restricted, out the box it makes probably 10hp more than a a fully kitted Supersport bike? unless they are actually 140hp at the wheel which I doubt.

I looked up the rules, I know, sad as I was interested to see how they plan to achieve parity but they don't seem to have published any yet.

  2. I think a full fat SS bike will have 140 rwhp so guessing the restrictions will not be that much on V2 other than maybe allowing blueprint rather than tuning

  3. Because I’m a tease… I know exactly what’s going on. But I’ve been sworn to secrecy. Apologies old bean.

What I will say is, it’s going to be really interesting I’ll tell you that much.

Edit: and the rider in question is fantastic.

  4. Can probably guess the rider if it’s Ducati related/supported.

    Or maybe not :joy:

  5. this is an outrage mate! Absolute outrage, can you even confirm whether it’s one of the BSB teams running him/her?

I looked also at the chronical article posted but I didn’t see the specific detail yet on weight limits etc, I imagine the V2 has to be at least 10KG heavier like back in the days when the 1098 ran against the 1000cc’s in superbike but no idea really.

a V2 with the current Supersport head work would surely make around 150hp at the wheel? They are about 130hp I think at the wheel in totally standard road trim

  6. Great first post on this thread.
    If you know, you know.
    Could not agree more.

  7. I reckon they won’t be allowed head work. Blueprint and matching piston weights at best.

  8. I think you are right, I guess they could only justify head work on safety grounds if they were extending the revs but I don't imagine they will be allowed, and the F3 800 Triples definitely won't. They have put lots of DLC coating etc into their road bike this year under the guise of emissions, we will see....

I was thinking about this last few days... the person I would LOVE to see come over and get on the Supersport Ducati V2 bike in a good team is Oli Bayliss. I would love to seem him over in Europe and he clearly has a strong relationship already with Ducati, initially through his dad but now as a supported rider. I don't think he has the experience to come straight onto a superbike in the UK, the championship out there arguably isn't strong enough but could see this being a great step.

Come on @Advikaz is that the most crack pot theory you've heard for the ride yet????

  9. It isn’t the most crack pot.

But it isn’t the case either ;)

    it’s a Brit

  10. Rory Skinner..?

  11. He's signed back with FS3 today, and tbf he's easily done enough to justify the stay in BSB, he's had a tougher 2nd half the year but it's still been 'solid' and I think he will be a race winner next season, and Jackson also, a whit says, never going to win a championship but solid.

I guess names... can see Kennedy riding it, one of the front runners perhaps, wouldn't say that's that exciting though.

  12. You’re all miles off.

    and that’s my last comment

    Ciao :joy:

  13. Josh day (is that his name??) as Tri options champ should get the ride. Backed by Ducati and thru PBM or MR…

  14. Yeah he's already pretty much confirmed it a few weeks back. When asked about the rumours, he did that big grin thing and said he'd like to be in supersport in 2022

  15. V2 in trioptions trim Vs supersport might surprise you. If they plan on allowing further weight loss options and more engine modification, then yeah perhaps some restriction. They're about 150 at the rear wheel on the BSB Dyno.

  16. That would be 10 up on the 600/765so they’d need to level it somehow. Either weight or revs or both!

  17. Look at TSL timing and lap timing, supersport generally quicker round a lap. I think the talent is higher in supersport though except the top few trioptions guys so I guess we'll just have to see.

  18. Can only be power or weight (or combination of both). There has certainly been mid-pack quality at the front of TO over the years and yet they would not be mid pack in times. Suspension is relatively free, so can’t be chassis unless the panigale is simply far poorer a set up all round. They both use same tyres too, hence I’d be surprised at 150rwhp if 600’s are banging 137 out (liked doc). But…there could be 15-20kgs difference in weight??

  19. If you check Oulton best lap 1’40 would have been about 16th on grid in SS qualifying and c3 seconds off pole
