BT Sport have been losing rights to some of the sports they show. There’s an interesting quote in the article... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45000791 “"We won't bid any more than the rights are worth to us," a spokesperson for the telecoms giant told the BBC.” Which got me wondering how much MotoGP is worth to them and, if they decided not enough, where its new viewing home might be?
If they lose MotoGP then they lose my internet account (I’m sure that’ll make them quake in their boots). It’s the only reason I stay with BT.
That is the actual case here in NZ, plus Real Road Racing, Canadian Superbikes, World Speedway GP, Cup, and also AMA Supercross and Motorcross, Dakar among other stuff.
Anybody use the BT Sport app and DOESN'T have BT Broadband? What's it cost? Hard to find a price that isn't tied to BT Broadband. Fed up with them regularly upping their prices, so thinking of going app-only and moving to Sky Broadband. As I understand it, should then be able to watch online and using iPad for about £9 per month.
@bradders Would you remind me how you watch BT sport please. I vaguely remember it had something to do with paying an extra fiver/month with your mobile phone provider?
I am with EE for mobile contract. They have changed it to try and get you to pay £15 now you can Tv cast it. If you text SPORT to 150, then follow instructions, you get 3m free iirc. The you can go to your online EE account and either cancel or downgrade to non-casting at a fiver, or keep casting at £15. Once you have the log in, I have found that the Bt app via windows 10 allows full live access regardless of the the fact I only have the phone allowed app
Thanks for that Paul. Interesting for me as I begrudge being with Bt, but really love watching Moto GP and would like to find an alternative way to watch without being a Bt customer. btw I used to pay Bt for the ability to watch MotoGP via the app on my laptop, but then connected my laptop to my tv using a lead, few seconds of flaffing about, but negated the need to have to pay extra for Bt tv.
I left BT as MotoGP is the only sport I watch. It worked out cheaper to go straight to Dorna and I simply cast the stream to whichever TV in the house I want to watch it on.
Considering changing to 'Now' broadband and line rental which would cost £140 year after claiming the gimmicks https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-broadband/#btfibre And then going with Videopass to enable me to watch MotoGP which I believe cost around £176 season? @JH_1986 so quite a significant saving compared with being with Bt. https://secure.motogp.com/en/subscribe
Pretty much what I’ve done. I managed to get a great bundle deal for SkyQ and their fibre. I pay the VideoPass separately, I got it a few races into the season when I left BT so it was marginally cheaper. Only issue I have is Simon Crafer. Other than that I’m happy.
I have the same issue with you re: Simon Crafer. The rest of team is excellent, couldn't be better imo. Cue Simon Crafer, and the magic of MotoGP just evaporates. I fully appreciate he has brain damage as a result of an accident , but he's the wrong man for the job.
What happens if you can't watch live? Is the entire race available to view after the event? If so, how do you avoid spoilers on their website?
