Buying a 2103 Multi with full Termi

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by spanish, Mar 4, 2013.

  1. Just thinking about it.-buying a 2013 Multi- first test ride tomorrow. Love the look of the Pike Peak's exhaust- full Termi with carbon cans.

If purchased from new- a 1200S -and ordered the full Termi would the Termi be fitted on build in Italy or retro fitted by the dealer. If from new would obviously save the cost of the decat, standard exhaust and standard ECU and sounds as should be a better deal.

Wonder if any knowledge within the forum

  2. The PP comes with a slip on Termi, not the full, no CAT system. It is retro fitted by the dealer and you get the standard pipe as well.

Best to ask your dealer if you can save by having it factory fitted. Not sure and I doubt it but worth the enquiry.

It is likely that the factory is only able to supply road legal bikes - and the full Termi is too loud and stamped 'Not for Road use'. Have you heard it - nice for a few minutes but I couldn't tour with that din all day.

  4. Seems a hell of a long time to have to save for a bike ;) 2103

  5. Yeah. I really don't think you'll need an exhaust when this time comes.

  6. The lead time on the 2013's is a bitch.

  7. Riders Cardiff have a few in stock

  8. Whoops- writers error- 2103 Multi. Did not realise the PP model just had a slip on can!

Anyway rode the 2013 Multi today- such a well behaved engine at low revs- quite a different bike. Also very smooth ride- presume down to the suspension. Not convinced the new screen made much difference. Overall though a delight- and now sleeping on it!

  9. That will be a bit uncomfortable:biggrin:

  10. Don't think the full termi is out yet for 2013 mts yet.

  11. Yes, it is. And now it does not come with a new ECU that need to be changed. Now the Performance mapping is done with an Up-Map stick that is connected to the bikes diagnostic port:upyeah: Same as the 1199.

  12. Just had mine fitted yesterday. Hardway essentially the same.

Used the stubby with a Mivv bypass pipe for my 2010. the full Termis are obviously better.

Despite length, its nice and slim so actually looks ok. Pulse of exhaust can rival the Dyson Airblade hand dryer!

Noise is deeper than decatted stubby. Deeper pulse and reasonable volume at idle. Blip the throttle and it barks. Otherwise just growls louder.

Upstick apparently just unlocks the Performance map. Yes, its preloaded in each bike. Each stick though will turn it on or off for each particular bike and remembers the last state it was used for.

No "Racing" on the dash when starting the bike though...

  13. does it have "race use only" stamped on it? and is it anything to be worried about?

  14. AFAIK, this is approved for EU use. Nothing stamped to say race-only on the can itself. Dealer fitted, so I didn't have any instructions with me. There is a removal baffle however.

Noise at idle is not bad. Less obstrusive than my neighbour's Triumph Bonne!

  15. I think I misread your post, I thought you had fitted a full termi

  16. Oh I misread it too then. It was unclear.

  17. Was told by my dealer that the 2010-12 pipe will fit and they can then do the map flash if I was to upgrade bikes and move my system over.

  18. Sorry all. My bad. Full of types and being ambiguous.

It is the full system. But if you check the Ducati website, it is supposed to be road legal. Don't think they have a race-only system now. I think there was one before.

The pipes are otherwise exactly the same. Just that the 2013 ECU now contains the full system map and the upstick just switches it over. The 2010 requires a whole ECU change. So otherwise the system is transferrable in terms of hardware.

O, and make sure you get your stock ECU back if you're upgrading your old bike. Else there's nothing to fit on when you remove the pipes!

  19. Would you mind sharing how much you paid for the full termi on the 13, I'm tempted but not sure of the prices as previous items I have bought have been different prices than stated on the website. Price including fitting?

  20. Dealer gave me a good price. Think it came to 1.4ish. Labour was another 200ish (4.5 hours!). But mind you I ordered it all when I got the bike, and they did me some discounts on accessories and such.

No harm giving them a ring though. Pro Twins in Godstone. They can also do used ones. And I reckon there will be quite a few as the weather improves and people trade in the old model. Quite a few of their customers had full Termis on.

Having said that, they could have just moved them over....
