I am new to Ducati and am just looking to put a deposit on a new pikes peak but talking to my local dealer he tells me that it will be retail with no discount off rrp. i have previously had lots of Honda's and a few BMW's, and whilst they say you will pay retail for the BMW you can normally haggle over the final price, some accessories or gear. what is the experience of those on here, am I being spun a yarn and should I aim for a discount or should I just sign up to retail? i am new to the forum (it's my virgin post) so please be gentle with me.
Ducati is no different from any other manufacturer. If the dealer is offering you nothing, move on to another. There are plenty.
Definately try another dealer, deals were harder when it was 1st launched, but that was 2010, shop around my friend, I'm sure you will get a deal somewhere
+1 on what Niven770 and Boomer are saying. Don't be afraid to go further afield than the local area as well (you can always use the local dealer for servicing etc) - you should be able to pick up a deal that suits. Mark H
+1 On finding another dealer, call his bluff and tell them you'll take your business somewhere else, also leave it to the last couple of days of the month as they have targets to hit and will be more open to haggling. Can't see them selling many bikes this time of year.
Yeh no harm in making a few phone calls Welcome to the forum........hope to hear of a purchase confirmed soon
Price outside your area, then go back to your local dealer and give him a chance to match it, this way if he can manage to match it, it will be better for you, should you require warranty work and servicing.
I had the same issue and did try numerous dealers...There was just no movement in floor price. That said I thought I did extremely well in the accessories and servicing I negotiated in, and had I got movement in the price I doubt they would have been so accommodating with the extras. It probably evened itself out in the end.
I'm negotiating on a new PP right now. PM me if you want an idea. I would say, just playing a Dutch auction with dealers is wrong. You will be wanting a local dealer for on-going service and advice and putting your money elsewhere and expecting your local dealer who has lost out on the initial sale profit to then provide stellar service is naive. There are not many things to change on the PP but I'm doing a fair amount and off the main forum can give you an idea on costs. Where are you based?
Thanks to all posters so far, I have a similar view to Count in that if I want 5 star service I probably need to buy from where I will get the work done, that being said I think I have got the message that I can expect something in the deal. I am based in Totton so Winchester and Alton are easy and even Bristol is an hour up a good road so I have a reasonable choice, I hear that Snells and Moto Rapido have good reputations, do any of you have any views on the 3 dealers above. count I have pm'd you. once again thanks to all.
welcome - my sons in Totton :frown: and the other half works just down the road in Hythe we both like and use MR others favour Snells but both imho are better than Riders,,, would be worth going to see both face to face
I bought my Multistrada from Snells and they have been brilliant. I did pitch them against another dealer, but they were hungry for my business and fought hard to get the deal.
Mr and snells are both excellent, never seem to hear a bad word about them. I use p&h at crawley. They currently have a PP and a PP rep in stock. There may be a deal to be done on one of these, so worth a call. Speak to Marcus and say john w sent you. He might put he price up not down though  You should be able to get ~20% off any accessories ordered at the same time as the bike.
There is a MTS at P&H where someone has thrown a lot of money at it to change the spec, it's a 12 plate with more extras than Ben Hur. I decided against this but as a bike where someone else has spent all the money on the blingy bits, it's a deal - needs a graphics kit removing and it would look fine.
… My neck of the woods, I'm down in Reigate and bought mine from P&H as well. I commute past you on the A217 from March to November
