Buying Advice ?

  1. Hi.
After much umming and arrhing I've pretty much decided on a hyper over another sports bike.
Looked at a few , surprised a little over the price of the older style bikes as they seem to have held their values ??
Anyhow, looking at a hyperstrada 2013 modeL
Anything out of the ordinary that I should look for ? Any advice will help thanks.

  2. Not really.... Theres quite a few hypermotard's now so its more a question of style and servicing.... Well, thats the way I see it.... Although snowcat87 on you tube had no end of problems with his 2013sp so I don't know if the old models of the 821 suffer from anything but ive not heard of anything...

  3. I've only test ridden a hyperstrada and I liked it to start with but the seat doesn't allow you to move around and that started to get to me. Another thing is it started off fine but by the end of the test ride it refused to go into neutral. Other than that I thought it was a great bike with good handling and a nice motor. The seating position is quirky though so take one out for a test ride if you haven't already.

  4. For me the hyperstrada is a bit of a contradiction (all of them) you've essentially bought a hypermotard with panniers and the initial first hypermotard was built and designed as a hooligan bike so adding panniers (or not) or calming it down and diluting it is turning it into something it isn't... That's of course if that's why you chose it....

  5. So , took a test ride today of a new hypermotard from the new dealers in Harston near Cambridge. First off is top marks to the staff their who all came across as knowing their stuff , not pushy and very helpful . Offered a test ride even though I said I was looking for a secondhand bike that they didn't have. Charlotte who was dealing with me was fantastic with my dumb arse questions.
    Any how , the bike.
I whole idea of getting a bike like this is to help keep my overall speed down but I'm now thinking that it increases my speeds, just at a lower range of that makes sense ? I came out of 50 mph bend thinking I should have done that 50% faster. Bloody roundabouts, well I ended up zipping between two jus for a laugh. I set of sticky tyres on one of these must almost make you a roundabout king ?
The test ride has made me certain I would enjoy one, but unsure if I can live with one ?

  6. They are great fun. The main reason I bought one was to keep the 'high speeds' down and it definitely works at that. I love riding it, and find its happy enough to plod along (which I never wanted to do on a sports bike) but mostly it finds itself having a blast.

  7. There is nothing that will slow you down other than your right hand. Buying any Ducati, any of them, will only make you want to go faster. Just buy the bike you want and take responsibility for that mighty hand of yours. And...you can chuck luggage on just about anything so widen your choices.

  8. Yep. Agreed... Ive got a ktm 525 supermoto and hoon that around quite a bit... Sometimes more then my zed and rsv4... Depends on the mood, traffic weather conditions etc etc... So in the nicest possible way it's not really a valid argument.. In fact that's why I've just bought another hyper 1100 - for the low end tractability up to 100mph....itll do everything the super moto does with twice of the same...!

  9. Done 11000miles on my 2013 model now, absolutely love it. It's such a fun versatile bike, toured Scotland (camping) with it, doing Ireland this year with it. I fitted a Rapidbike Evo module and GPR exhaust with MWR air filter beginning of this year and massive improvement with smoother throttle and more torque. No problems with it, the clutch cable needs adjusting as the miles climb, you will know when it needs adjusting when you find neutral difficult to select. Slight adjustment on the cable sorts this out in seconds. Lots of hyperstrada riders have swopped the standard seat to the motard seat, for more room to move around. I just fitted a gel pad insert into the foam padding. Pulls wheelies for fun and pulls out of corners faster than I thought possible.
I would have liked the SP version, but being vertically challenged didn't even try and sit on one.
Also fitted an Ohlins steering damper as the front end is quite flighty!
