Cal To Lcr Honda 2015

    Think its a bit of 2 fingers upto Ducati after announcing he was staying with them at wdw and giving all the bull he talked about

    Well atleast lannone will now get his shot

  2. I think Ducati wanted Ianonni and Cal wanted out so it works both ways. There was an option in the contract to go after a year so everyones happy by he sounds of it.

    Cal was quick on a Yamaha with a lower spec than JL and VR last year...no reason why he wouldnt be involved with the top of the table on a Honda. Personally I'm looking forward to it as he never seemed overawed by running at the front like Bradl does.

    Yeah Cal moans but at least he's not coming out with the same old answers. Noone ever seems to hear from Lorenzo any more as he's a bit robotic and we've done the meditation and 'smooth like butter' stuff before...at least I want to see what Cals saying.....couldnt give a toss about JL's interviews!
     
  3. We all know why Cal moaned - cos the bike was shite - but it's still not the done thing. Given the pay packet and the works status one would expect a bit more professionalism. I think the moaning will die down now he'll be on something a bit more competitive.

  7. I think Cal has missed his shot.. Id rather see (and think it likely) that Redding kicks some arse. I hope also that the rest of the season sees Lowes fulfill the promise he has shown. I love the idea of Brits in Motogp but think its unlikely that Cal is the future no mater what bike he is on..

  8. We forget, Cal is a former world champ, winning the Superstock title in 2009. The man can ride and although he's left my favourite race team, I hope he's able to mix it up next year
     
  9. The field is full of former world champs.. some of em even former gp champs! Cal can ride like fvk for sure but so can most ( well all) of them.. Its about getting the right package at the right age/time in your career. Unfortunately for Cal hes never going to get a top 4 bike and I think there is more riders deserving and equally if not more capable than him, with youth on there side. Why waste time on a rider who's shelf life is too short to develop a bike or a relationship with a team?

  10. Do you know what? I hate the 'we get paid x to do something we love'. If you were doing something you loved (racing) wouldn't you want to be winning? If I was paying someone a shitload of money I'd want them to care about whether they were at the front of the pack. Yeah the sponsors might not like it but I'd rather that than just running round and picking up a cheque.

    I think Edwards and hayden are great but I don't agree with the attitude..... If they're doing something I'm jealous of I'd want them to be trying their guts out.

    Edit :for the record, I think hayden is trying. Edwards shod have class it a day 2 years ago..... Just look at what his team mate is doing

  11. Well, I might not have been overjoyed at my previous employer on some days, and quite often I thought their decisions were wrong. But I wouldn't have been saying that to the media, even if any of it had been remotely interested in what I had to say.
    And if I'd been paid the sort of hush money that GP racers get, I would definitely have kept schtum.

    I know that Stoner is reckoned to be the Moaner, but I don't remember him bad-mouthing the bike frequently. I could just have a poor memory, of course.

  12. Stoner used to say 'we' have a problem, where Cal is saying 'they' have a problem. No difference at all, it's still whingeing.

I would disagree Figaro the WE is a team thing the THEY means crutchless thinks its nothing to do with him , lets not forget stonner did win the championship on a ducati, I bet marquez would win or put it on the podium week after week, crutchless chased the cash, and its backfired on him , I think nxt year he will do nothing then be back to wsb/wss/bsb

  15. I'd disagree with the idea he chased the cash. The Ducati seat was the only one available after he was fired by Yamaha to make room for Espargaro. Without that offer, he'd be on the PBM, being lapped. I do agree through that 2015 is now a make or break year for him

  16. I hate say it but I agree with Matt here. I even ticked the "Agree" box :(

    If I were Crutchlow, I'd think about how I want to proceed with the new team. The fact that he has gotten the ride has more to do with pulling in British interest and sponsorship (i.e. cash flow) and less to do with his ability on the track (or off it, as an ambassador for the *cough*sponsor*cough I mean sport).

  17. I dont think Crutchlow is a problem for sponsors (sunglasses, energy drinks etc). They love coverage and getting their products on TV is what its all about. I dont think they give a toss weather the rider is squeaky clean (JL) or if its Cal moaning about the bike.....its all about airtime. I'm not about to go out and buy a pair of those sunnies (@mattmccabebrown may be more susceptible) but I think Cals marketability comes from his determination/gets-back-up-after-a-big-crashness rather than some squeeky clean metrosexual blank canva....I don't see his sponsors leaving in droves like Lance Armstrongs or Tiger Woods.

    Put yourself in Cal's shoes. You want a factory ride as its the only way to truly challenge for a title. Ducati is the only option but are clearly the worst performing of the factory teams but you get lots of promises from them that they are going to change/develop the bike so you go with that, negotiating a get out clause after the first year if the promises of improving the bike aren't met (you're not stupid after all and Ducati have been notoriously poor at keeping to their promised bike improvements for whatever reason (cash, team structure, stubbornness etc)).

    You join the team and all looks well with Gigi joining and going open class....it looks like promises will be kept this time. But the development doesnt come. You're pretty much keeping pace with your team mate whos had a year on the bike but its frustrating as you're finishing 8th/9th and they promised they would develop the bike but you're getting no parts or those that are coming are not making a difference. You have a series of silly mechanical issues (software that makes the bike unridable but you still bring it home and your brakes are shite the next race and you retire) and you're feeling the pressure of a factory ride, a team of people in Italy and fans of the marque all over the world on twitter etc and all the time someones sticking a mike under your nose asking whats going on. You're feeling pretty shit at this point and you want the team to do what they promised....you're risking your neck on a bike thats a pig and they are doing fuck all to improve it.

    Cal! Whats going on?

    'Yeah, the bikes not working. There needs to be changes but they arent happening quickly enough'

    Headline : Cal disrespects Ducati!

    Should Cal be moaning (if you want to call it that)? In an ideal world, no. But in an ideal world Ducati would be producing upgrades and making progress as they promised.

    I don't blame him for saying the bikes not right....we can all see it and he's desperate to get a reaction from the team. Alonso does the same in F1 to try and get the team to make changes and to work harder. I don't like it much (I think hes a twat....a talented twat but a twat none-the-less) but it seems to be working for him as the car is getting better.

    I just hope he goes to LCR and gets a good bike. The proof of the pudding will then come out. If he has the same bike as Marquez/Ped we'll see how fast he really is.....and for the record I think he'll be right up there.

    Shame Ducati will produce a bike in 2015 that will dominate MotoGP for the next 5 years! Dovi for the Championship next year!

    That's a pretty decent analysis but whether public/sponsor perception matches the theory is unproven.

    The MotoGP Duke (or its development, anyway) is a pig - people in a position to comment and who are prepared to say so in public are saying so ... so I have to accept that. Do you complain bitterly and publicly about your employer? Well, in a normal industry, no you don't, not usually. In MotoGP? I guess that's OK!
