Just a heads up, or perhaps you all know about it. But I have been done last week by a camera safety van in our village. Now then, I was on my way to work when I spotted the poxy thing, but no need to worry, I always observe the speed limit going through the village, and as soon as I saw the van the first thing I did was to look at the speedo, phew, no problem, 25mph on the clock, happy days. Anyway this morning a letter was delivered to my depot stating that the driver of said van was being done for, get this ------------ not wearing a seat belt------------ I always have worn a seat belt when they were available, even before they were compulsory, but I'd been distracted that morning, I'd put the belt on and started the van, but I'd forgotten something and had to go back in the house, jumped back in the van and drove off. Didn't think nothing of it when I saw the fekin Camera Safety Van, then just past it I realized I hadn't put it back on, so I did. Any way the upshot of it all is, I've been done, £70 down the freakin river the barstards so be warned.
Just another source of revenue. Don’t get me started on it seriously. It fucks me off no end that the police are so bothered about speeding when they do fuck all else about most other things. I know it’s not them that make the laws but those cnuts in government are a bunch of jokers and they wonder why so many people have no respect for them.
It's a crock of shit rule. How many bikes have seat belts fitted? Saying that, I always wear a seat belt when driving now and feel 'naked' without one. I didn't wear one for years after the rule came in, it was only the pesky warning buzzers that made me start.
Just you wait; I bet the insurance industry will be reading this & lobbying for the government to make it fines & points. Anyhow as a delivery driver you should know about the distance you can & cannot take your seat belt off to enable you to speedily drop off & pick up items from customers.
Plug the seat belt in before you get in and then sit on top of it. Keeps the alarm quiet and lets you jump in and out without being pestered by the stupid feckin thing. That's what I do in my 4X4 when I'm driving round the farm where I shoot. Or go to a scrap yard and cut off a seat belt clip and leave it in the socket.
I just looked up on the old fishnet to see what exemptions there are if any, and apparently if I'm pregnant I can get away with it and if it's a goods vehicle and I don't travel more than 50meters before each stop. But the other worrying thing I found out was, the fine can be up too £500 and, and three fekin points on my licence
A builder got slightyl pissed of getting finrd for sest brlt thst he now wears a hi vis with a big black stripe across it so any cops see him it looks like hes wearing.

can this thread be retitled to something more appropriate these vans have absolutely nothing to do with safety, they are about revenue collection and usually utilised where they can generate as much cash as possible
Which ties in with @Lightning_650 's post in the Believe it or not thread about ACPO being a private company.
I did write the title with just a hint of sarcasm don't forget. Where this particular revenue generating van (better name I think) positions itself is as your about to leave the village, about 200 to 300yds before the speed limit goes from 30 to 40mph, with the camera pointing back into the village. Which means the camera is not there to slow the traffic down coming into the village but is there to catch motorists starting to pick up speed leaving the village heading towards the increased speed limit. So I do heartily agree with your observation KO.
I wonder now if the cameras are motion detect software and take a photo of every vehicle that passes, or still manually triggered and someone behind a camera spotted you and clicked?
If they are called Safety Vans and get somebody for speeding then that’s bullish!t. If they call them Safety Vans and get somebody for not wearing a seatbelt (which is a safety device) then what’s the problem? If a copper on foot saw you sitting at traffic lights and without a seatbelt would you have a problem with being booked by him?
