Can Anyone Recommend A Quiet, Retro Look Helmet?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by DanSS600, Mar 21, 2021.

  1. Currently wearing a Bell Bullitt but the wind noise is no fun.

The AGV X3000 and Nexx XG100 both look good to me but I don't want to swap one noisy helmet for another.

Can anyone suggest something with similar looks but offering less wind noise/better sound proofing?

    Thanks

  2. Not particularly retro but very comfortable and quiet is the Schuberth C3 Pro Helmet
Blu- tooth ready and finished off in Anthracite Matt.
The flip front is useful from those tosser petrol put attendants who get all jumpy when you go and pay for your juice!

Look to be good value at the moment also.

  4. Flip front might be the way to go but the Schuberth looks too modern to me.

Davida Koura review here says there is a lot of wind noise from the chin bar vents and visor.

  5. If only there was some form of wind tunnel you could stick your head in to test before you commit to buy.
I’ve had this idea for a while now, I’m sure it’s the kind of thing that would work well at bike shows

  6. Thanks. This morning I ordered an Arai Debut so I'll see how good it is. Not really retro looking but if it is quiet I will be happy.

  7. Quiet = Rubbish ventilation

    Noisy = Good ventilation

I'd go with a well vented lid and wear earplugs if need be :)

  8. I will let you know after I try the Debut.
On hot days I can always stick with the Bell Bullit.

  9. Beg to differ but...
my Schubert flip-front C3 Pro is both quite and well ventilated.
I used to use ear plugs with my Roof helmet, but this one is by far the best lid I’ve owned.
All day comfort with Bluetooth connectivity.

  10. Retro as in open face?

Bell we’re doing some nice 1970’s looking reps a while ago in carbon. Didn’t fit my head very well or I’d have bought one.

  11. No, full face. The Arai I bought has good reviews for low noise so I will try it and if I don't like it like it return it.

  12. I have a couple of the X3000s, a Luchinelli and an Ago. Both pretty quiet (because they're round) and the ventilation is decent once you pull the bung out. They're nice plush hats actually and pretty comfy too.

  13. Flip lids are usually quieter as they have a better deal around the neck

  14. Well I've been out wearing the Arai and it is great. Much quieter than the Bell and with a Pinlock visor there is no fogging.
