  1. hello chaps, im currently converting my 05' 749s into a track bike, i have a harris (under yoke type) stand which i used on my gsxr. the obvoius problem is the bottom yoke on the duke doesnt have a hole to to push the stand up in too. does any one know if it can be removed and drilled out to accomadate the stand, or am digging myself into a hole?? cheers

  2. On my 999 I use an under yoke front stand without the pin and use a ratchet strap through the holes in the top yoke to behind the bottom yoke and under the horizontal bar of the stand to secure it to the bike. Slow to do and not as good as a pin in the stem but ok as long as you slacken all bolts before going up.

  3. Yes you can drill it, I don't see why it be a problem. I have an aftermarket Ohlins bottom yoke which fits onto the original stem and it is drilled, the stem is hollow anyway plus you'll find there is a small (drain) hole but it probably isn't central so don't use it as a guide.

It would be best to remove it for drilling accurately rather than doing it in situ with a hand drill.

  4. I wouldn't want my bottom......yoke, drilling!

  5. a small hole centraly located well away from any edges or stress points should not present any problems

swiss chessing the entire yoke to save weight however would not be recommended

  6. I fear that may be too late for you Anth......

  9. Are you going straight for a big one, or are you going to try a small one first? .....drill bit that is!

  10. I'll take it off centre punch it in dead centre , pilot hole and the out to the full size

  11. Once it's done I'll post up some pictures for other people future use

  12. Best take it slowly at first you dont want to chew into the soft tissue i mean alloy :p
