Well guys and gals after much deliberation I finally decided that I need a new rider confidence builder so I've just picked up this little beauty replacing my much loved 748
Technical hitch with fookbucket..... I can see the pics on a laptop but not the phone??? Anyway got myself a RVF400 - she is a pretty little thing!
Ha Ha yeah without a doubt I will get another one but not for a while....the 748 was knocking my confidence because TBH for a first big bike it is quite hard....so lumpy low down and I couldnt get used to it and I just felt out of my depth despite trying to battle with her......I know the RVF will build up the confidence because to start with its lighter and I can actually move it about without needing Duke to assist or worrying im going to drop her and also my feet touch the ground!! HA HA. The lad that has got her now has got a beautiful duker as I did a lot to her and spent a lot of money to get her looking sweet, he was in the opposite boat wanting the next step up.....so guess we are both happy. If I could have afforded to I would have kept the duke and bought the RVF but luckily came across his add and have down a straight swap like for like on price and mileage similar - duke had done 9700 and the RVF has done 11,000 so not bad for an 18year old bike and she is VERY tidy. Im Happy!!!!! (only taken me 3 bikes to find the right one!!!)
I have to say I think that's pretty wise. The 748 isn't really a beginner's bike, especially if you're not very big. Enjoy!
Hi Pixie...best thing you could have done without doubt! From this your confidence will grow i can assure you. I am only small like you (5' 1 +) and I had an ER6 which i rode from the day I passed my test. Heavy thing at side of Monster I can tell you. Kept plugging away even in the middle of winter but just didnt feel right. I managed to get around but I wanted the fun of it. So i made it happen. Sat on a 250 ninja at bike show and bought 1. Had it a year did 2500 extremely enjoyable miles which set me on my way. Now have the 796 (obviously as low as it will go) and thoroughly enjoy riding most anywhere. Love the bike to bits...tbh do like the sportsbikes as you seem to do and if I could lower an 848 enough then i would probably swap...ideas anyone??...but i would not be thinking this way if i had not made a similar move to the one you have just taken. You will look back at this in time with absolutely no regrets!! best of luck
The Honda RVF400 is without doubt one of the best built, best handling and best looking bikes in the world, and I only wish I could fit on one. Congratulations!
Totally agree, if you got the muscle then yeah think you can be ok with the 748 for a first bike! I was at the point where I just couldnt take her out on my own and thought nah this isnt right I need to be able to go out on my own and not worry!! Nows the time for confidence building a to learn the handling of a bigger bike without worrying im going to drop it or its going to drop me!
Hope you get on ok. Youv'e got to go with what you feel comfy with. I loved my Kat but it was very very long and heavy. Im a sod so many bikes I would like to own and I have a thing for the big heavy 80's bikes as well. Got my Monsters and love them really don't think I could part with them. Took me a good 15 bikes to find something that felt good Go get em
