1000 Cannot Fill Tank Fully

  1. Hello hello!

Would please anyone have tip how to fix my fuel tank on 1000DS 2003? I can put only 12-13 litres of petrol in it. I took out the breather valve and fluid reservoir (under the seat) to see if these are faulty, but hard to say, nothing seemed out of ordinary. I can't think of anything else to check. Any suggestions please? It would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

  2. Is it a financial issue?

  3. Ocassionally to reset the tank/trip computer on my current steed. It was required to ride about with a 5ltr fuel tank stowed away till it emptied its 17ltr capacity.

  4. I'll try, thanks...but think it's something to do with the actual tank/piping/valve.

  5. You may have a problem but the numpty tank has been renowned from day one as being slow to completely fill!

One method I have used when touring is to slowly fill to the brim, then gently rock the bike backwards and forwards, you can watch the fuel level go down as the rear part of the tank is filled, bit of a faff in the petrol station but does mean you get another few litres in and the gauge doesn't drop to 3/4 full ten miles down the road!

  6. Cool, will try next time, thank you!
