Just bought a 2 1/2 year old Focus st with 15k on clock from Parks Ford, Just wondering if you guys think its a good idea or not to Take out the 3years manufacturer servicing paying by direct debit???? There wanting £15.99 a month for 32 months, Does this sound a good deal or am i better just to Get it serviced yearly and pay for it at the time?? I only do around 7k a year, Normally do all my own maintenance and repairs but want to keep the full service at least to its 5 years old, Im not one for buying newish cars and usually buy around 5 years old, I will still replace wearing parts myself such as pads etc, Probably its not anything special to a few of you but im honestly delighted with it, Just your thoughts please, Going in tomorrow to let them know, Cheers Jack
What's the service schedule, is it every 2 years? I bought my new van 21 months ago (2 year schedule) and it will not be going to the main dealer even though under warranty - my local garage looks after it and I get it serviced every year instead of ever 2 even though low miles. If it's a 2 year schedule then it's a rip off as it will only be serviced once. If every year it's now too bad if it includes everything.
Also depends how long you keep your cars ? If your the type thats keeps em for an eternity, then the stamp in the book not as important come sale time as the car will be quite old, but if you plan to resell while its still fairly new, folk like to see the service history ??
PS, not entirely the same, but my nipper had a fairly new Fiesta, and each service for that was around the 200 mark iirc, so you're not gaining a whole lot by paying up front ?
They cant give an exact price as they say it can change but he saying approx £100 more which sounds a lot for what you get, He also tried to add in the mot for the 3 years which is a complete rip off as it works out at £75 an mot test, I can get my mate to mot it for £40 a time and if Ford is doing there services correct theres no reason for any issues with mot fails, Im tempted to just Book it in for services as and when there required, Mainly because they quite often have offers on servicing, Ive never put my cars in to dealers for servicing in the past and thought ide see what others do, Ide expect to keep it for 4 years so would be around 6 1/2 years old when i get shot of it, Defo going to keep the service book stamped for the next 3 years,
petrol or diesel? swmbo has the petrol and i get to do all the servicing. i get trade discount on all the parts from ford. it doesn't cost me much, but remember that the main dealer will replace the brake fluid and coolant i think every two years.
I took one of these out on my Focus Ecoboost. In addition to the servicing and MOT it also gave Ford Breakdown recovery. I found it value for money. I sold the car before the end and got my payments for the period of last service to sale refunded. Could have transferred it to my new Ford but it came with 2 years servicing.
bad idea, unless it improves yer warranty in any way. its a scam in my humble opinion. no refection on the company itself. i am sure the are an honorable bunch. i see these every week, the oil and filter gets done, maybe the odd air filter, everything else is an extra. and again, i aint accusing this particular company of anything, but in my experience, you will still be driving around on the same brakes and alternator belt these service plans seem to generate for a further 20k mls. get the recommendations they give, checked at a local garage first.
