I'm baffled by the array of prices for the 750SS.......... I have seen dealers advertising them in excess of £3000, while another dealer near me has one at £1250.........on ebay etc, I have seen the same range of prices. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in values; mileage and year etc don't appear to have much bearing on them. I'm now curious as to what mine could be worth (Yes, I know....only what someone would actually pay for it)....when I first got it six years ago it was somewhat ragged, yet a dealer told me he would put it on his forecourt for £1800 if he paid me what I paid for it (£1000) and he reckoned it would sell. So now that it is in considerably better condition and up-specced; plus passed the last six MOT tests without any issues....what the hell could it be worth?? And then there are all the spares.....how do I value them?
They are creeping up, a low milage clean should be over £3000 for a 900. 600s are about 1500 750s in the middle. Dealers ask stupid money sometimes.
Book values are terrible. I told the dealer I got my 999 from that prices on eBay vary from 1500 to 3000, so I was hoping to get 2000 part exchange. He agreed to that, so I was happy.
Some of the higher priced ones (ridiculously high imo) have been for sale for the whole year, which tells you something - lots actually - about what they're worth... For £3k I'd be looking for mint, low mileage, fish, totally original.. And to be honest probably not a 750. Which is a shame, cos I've got a decent, modified, 750 with some history and 30+k on the clocks that's cost me more than that to buy and sort. Ho hum. Mick..
750 is a peach, I'm sure if I had a 900 I'd feel the same, or a 600 for that matter... love my 750 though. It's a great bike. My Dad's is actually a bit sportier than mine (jet kit, corsas, cut airbox and a single seater) and that's nicer still. Al's is a great bike and I daren't dream what spares it'd come with, you'd need a van! ;-)
I couldve bought a decent 999s for the money Ive spent on my 900. Enough spares to build another..... Still, its what I want
I would expect people on ebay to be asking £4.5k for a mint 900, original or blinged up. I reckon you will struggle at £3k these days, Wonkier Donkey. But looking just now I see 4k is what they are asking....
Mine is a clean 750 with 900 front forks (Showa adjustable) and rear end (Showa and Hyperpro) including ally swingarm... Not long before I got it, it had a new clutch and alternator etc, plus it has decent high level carbon cans, new battery and and loads of other things done. The clock says 31K but that's immaterial with what has been done to the engine as far as I am concerned...... The spares include the OEM parts apart from the zorsts; half fairing; twin headlight fairing; spare clocks and dash: spare screen and laods of other stuff including spare wheels with matched tyres..... So I reckon the bike must be worth £2K plus another £500 for the spares.
I love these bikes. Have had 900s for over two decades now and don't really want to not have one. They're great 'run about' bikes, great in cities and most places, that can entertain enough on the twisties or a short circuit. Cheap to run (really) and you need to really ride the tits off the things to keep up. Great fun!
