The bike has only done 150 miles and there seems to be alot of black cardon build up already. Dealer says there is no remap that needs doing. Would anybody know if its anything to worry about. I only noticed it whilst pratting about with the db killers. Cheers guys.
End cans or complete decat ? If you have retained the stock cat, the end can should make no difference to fuelling. I fitted an Akrpovic end can which was just plug and play. If you have gone for the system you should remap to get the full benefit. Andy
Full system Andy. Came straight off the 2010 bike but didn't notice carbon then. Will it cause damage or just slightly effect performance?
Having a similar conversation about performance cans for 998s. Standard mapping has to cope with exhaust emissions and noise for the mot so you have a dip at about 4.5 to 5k rpm. A free flow air filter and a free flowing exhaust with the standard mapping will make the engine run weaker although the 02 sensor will compensate for some of the change. IMO long term this will create problems although I am sure there are those who will disagree. Sooty deposits would suggest a rich mixture which is the opposite of what I would expect so perhaps some advice from a professional would be a good idea. Depends on how much you trust your local dealer if you choose to chat with him or there are some highly recommended guys on this forum dependig on where you live. Got to be worth a punt just for peace of mind. Andy
