hi all i'd like to replace my oem key guard for a cabon fibre one as it's looking a little tired. have read up on here that some of the cf ones can interfere with the transponder signal??? so can anyone recommend one that's been ok with 0 probs on their superbike? br, ian
I'm not near bike at moment but can get one by end of week. All the DP carbon fits and looks loads better than the alternatives in my opinion. And some of the key guards I've seen look awful. I've got a mix of DP, moto rapido, and carbon trader on my bike.
I know! ;-( wife's over for good (bad) full time next month so best do it now or I'll have no chance later! ;-) at least the suspension setup isn't blingy, so she can't have me on that one! ;-)
Then mine must've been made after a particularly heavy night of drinking by the Italians. Sadly it was rubbing on the tank. OP: if you fit it, make sure the edges don't touch the paintwork (nothing a quick Dremel session can't fix).
Hmmm. I had an open carbon clutch cover and carbon rear hugger added when I picked bike up in March. Last month I caved and bought carbon exhaust guard. This month I've decided the standard heel guards really must go, and I've just ordered the carbon heel guards. I'd convinced myself that would be it... Now you've got me thinking about the ugly plastic key guard...
hahaha. i've got the bug, too. just got the front mudguard, heat shield, heel plates & more. but the best bit for me was changing the inner heat shield. that crappy burnt brown bit stuck in the middle of the bike always got me! just had to go! miles better in carbon. just hope it holds up to the heat for a while. if it lasts a year, i'll be happy. for £25, i'd just change it again if it goes naff!
Once the bug bites that's it...... I've got carbon mudguard, hugger, belly pan, fairing in fills , v piece , bits that go along the side under he tank/seat, chain guard , key guard, heel guards, exhaust shield, cambelt covers,
Had 3 different make key guards and all badly finished and wouldn't fit properly, ie rubbing on tank or massive gaps, wouldn't allow bolt to seat squarly and the usual issue if refitting the transponder with bits of foam etc so it doesn't slide down the ignition barrel and leave you stranded. Back to standard for me!. Also had issue with heal guards not being the correct angle and so causing a rub on the swing arm. Again back to standard.
