“Compressed layer construction utilising Unidirectional Carbon cloth & Kevlar to drive out excess resin, creating a stronger bind which offers excellent stiffness, fracture & abrasive resistance protecting the rear brake pump cylinder. Finished in Carbon plain weave. Initially made for race, however the item will still fit road models as the M6 mounting bolt spacing remains the same on road as it does in race”

    Technical
    Top Layer

1 x 90gsm Carbon plain weave. Matt semi-gloss finish with waxed buff to shine.
    Core Layers
4 x 200gsm Unidirectional (None Crimp) carbon stranded.
    1 x 200gsm Carbon, Kevlar/Aramid core.

    General
Initially constructed for my race 749R using aerospace grade 200gsm Unidirectional Carbon cloth & Kevlar, totalling 5 layers, which make up the core and final 90gsm plain weave Carbon finish. These are designed in a certain contour and working pattern angles to alleviate stress cracks both vertical and lateral.
These protectors offer superior mechanical performance than crimped (woven such as plain or twill) reinforcement because under tension, the straight fibres are not prone to 'straightening out' in the way that woven fibres will do. Carbon provides high levels of stiffness and strength. Kevlar provides huge impact, abrasion & fracture resistance. Plain or twill weave is simply the aesthetic finish to any product.
These are compressed, not wet lay or vacuum bagging, to drive out unwanted excess resin as resin is needed to keep fibres in place only. Fibres add strength. Resin does not add strength. The more resin and lacquer used, the less mechanical strength it will become.
Finished as a Matt semi-gloss and can be wax buffed to shine in 5 mins if you want them to shine more. Any wax is ok to use as these are UV and chemical resistant. Also wax is an excellent protector from fluids.

Designed to be practical first, but look good too once mounted. Not to be confused with the imported cheap Chinese Fibreglass lay up & Carbon finish junk sold by “Carbon Motorcycle Specialists”
