999 Carbon Wheels

  1. I'm thinking of investing some serious money on a pair of carbon fibre wheels, lots of people say that this is one of the best mods to improve the handling and feel of any bike, has anyone got these fitted and if so what are your thoughts, recommendations?

  2. Do it! BST's on my 749R changed the bike completely - best money I ever spent on the bike!

  3. Check out the Alloy 7 spoke Dymags too - they were good enough to win the TT on Dunlops BMW and a better price.

  4. i got mag/carbon dymags on my 748 track bike, amazingly light and really improved the handling

  5. Anything to reduce unsprung weight is a positive.

  6. Carbon fibre wheels are so old hat now, they were first fitted to a road car, Citroen SM, back in 1971.
Having worked with CF in the aircraft industry I would be worried about the longevity of them. It only takes a small impact and the carbon can be invisibly damaged. Great for racing where they would have a limited lifespan, but questionable for a road bike in my opinion.
Can magnesium alloy wheels still be bought? I know that we all have aluminium alloy wheels, but magnesium is lighter. Again there is a downside as magnesium corrodes like nothing else if not looked after.

  7. :)

I have a set of dymags on my bike and they changed the handling massively. Almost to the point I need to re adjust my turn in at corners. And the braking is massively improved
