Says it's a Cat C category from insurance. Looks a bit more than cosmetic to me seeing how there is no "sub-frame"... YAMAHA YZF R1 1999 ACCIDENT DAMAGED, GOOD RUNNER! SEE VIDEO BELOW. | eBay
Cat C? Surely the insurance co. would write it off for a cracked frame? Not saying it couldn't be repaired but I don't think any ins. co. would want to put their name to it and would insist the frame was scrapped...
it will sell. when i put my r1 4xv up for sale i had 47 offers before i changed my mind and took it off.
These days, it seems the guys that categorise the bikes when inspecting them must be smoking the green stuff because I have seem a lot of bikes with cracked headstocks or snapped off front ends listed a cat D or C, yet other times have seem bikes that can be ridden away, listed as cat B ???????????? Here is a Cat B 2010 R1 ?? YAMA YZF R1 10 Cat C R6, ??? YAMA YZF R6 08
Had a friend crash his bike once. Decided he wanted a write off and figured anything to the frame would do it. Next thing he was marching past with a great big rock which he launched at the frame putting a nice big ding in it. Insurance company replaced the frame and repaired the bike. No write off.
