planned mods to Multistrada 1260s center stand. i did the cutting down, and welding the foot lever on my 1200s, but stopped short on that one of adding the two Zerks grease fittings. what a twat i was for omitting them on my 1200s. i am adding them on my 1260s, so when the pivot points start to squeak, a quick shot with the ol' grease gun, and wham, bam, thank you ma'am ... Bob's yer uncle ;-) note: Zerks fittings NOT to scale ;-)
LOL on the scale issue. Have been meaning to remove mine and get it powder coated. Aside from the aluminium belly pan parts, which aren't as bad, it's the only part of the bike that I look at and wince a little. Will need to invest in a spring hook after the struggle fitting the stand to start with. Will obviously re-grease on reassembly but if it's dry in there, I'll be expecting that after 20,000 miles, then this could be a worthwhile mod. Will be interested where exactly you intend to fit the grease nipples. Personally I don't have a boot interference issue with the centre stand despite size 45/46 feet.
If you have a V4 with a full Akra, removing the centre stand involves removing the centre section of the exhaust. So it’s a great idea. I wish I’d seen this post before I had my stand powder coated and refitted it!
(for me (size 47) the boot interference is more due to foot position on the pegs ... as i ride on the balls of my feet, so there is a LOT of boot hanging over the back of the pegs, that interfere with the center stand foot pad. cutting the foot pad lever section of the stand is easy ... but upon further inspection, there is not enough material to install the grease fittings. bugger!
wow ... having to remove the center section of the exhaust sounds like a PITA ... sorry to read that.
What else was I going to do with my Sunday afternoon? I could tell you I didn’t know the bolts had circlips on them and didn’t realise until they pinged off. But I wouldn’t want to look dozy…
if it's of any consequence, the first gen Multi 1200s (2010 - 2014) required one to remove the centre stand, just to be able to remove the skid plate, to do an oil and filter change ... until one got smart, and opened up a slot on the two offending skid plate mounting holes. a nice write up with picts ... https://www.ducati.ms/threads/mts-1...d-oil-change.153389/#lg=thread-153389&slide=0
I usually ride the same, maybe flex my ankle a bit more? As I don't have that issue. Oh well, was a nice thought anyway John.
