Last week went to put my Multi (5 months old, 5,000 miles) up on it's centre stand and the kick lever came away from the centre stand as it was about half way up. As I had hold of the bars in one hand and the handy lift lever in the other the bike fell towards me, so apart from a bruised shin there was no damage. Into the dealers tomorrow to have new stand fitted under warranty (and have heated grips fixed as well which stopped working just as the weather is turning). Any one else has a similar issue? It may be alright to let a KTM get that filthy but a multi!!!!!!!!! Nick, you're a complete disgrace to this community. Pull yourself together man and get the bike clean before posting any pictures on here again. In the meantime I suggest fellow members boycott all you're posts until you can prove that you can change you're shoddy ways. Shame on you sir, if you were stood in front of me now I would lay my glove on you!!
When I bought mine second hand there was no "kick lever" on the stand. At first I was miffed (and they wouldn't replace it, claiming or was an aftermarket stand) but having got the knack of heaving it onto the stand I don't get the much documented lever/heal issue so all is fine. Just another perspective.....
I had previously thought about following the instructions on this site Motorcycle Info Pages - MTS1200 DIY Mods > MTS1200 Centre Stand Fix glad I didn't now as I think that might just, ever so slightly, have invalidated the warranty. If the dealers get everything fixed tomorrow and the winds aren't hitting 90mph on Sunday pix of a clean multi (SDoc100 cleaned and waxed chain) may get posted on Monday.
Mine's less rust, more chain lube. It's overdue a clean, but I promised Nooj a colour change before he saw it next.
Great, another part to look at in fear of it failing/falling or just being awkward! It joins the list of all the other bits that have me peeved at the mo. The latest being my left hand engine case that was replaced a few months ago due to flaking paint; guess what it's doing it again and it's only just been replaced. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Bike cleaned and garaged and dealer serviced so come on Ducati, stop conning us on crap quality finish. We pay enough hard earned coin of the realm for the bloody things. Rant over.
I had the centre stand on my MTS1200 paint stripped and powder coated matt black. You can't see the difference, but it is now less likely to rust and there was on opportunity to check over the welds carefully - they were good.
